Former Hill staffer, former Heritage, now working on advancing American freedom @AmericanFreedom. Vice President of the Plymouth Institute for Free Enterprise

Joined December 2022
I’m honored to be joining @AmericanFreedom as VP of the Plymouth Institute for Free Enterprise, where my team and I will be excited to champion the values that have defined America. Much of what has made America great first took root at Plymouth Colony in the 1620s: • A bold, pioneering spirit • Personal devotion to God and family • Self-government and the consent of the governed • The seeds of constitutionalism and the Rule of Law • Property rights and economic freedom Over the four centuries since, these ideals became a beacon to the world—from the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution to the liberation of Europe and Ronald Reagan’s “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall” speech. Yet American freedom has also lived in the quiet dignity of individuals, families, pastors, farmers, and business owners pursuing what they feel called to do. To keep this freedom and our nation thriving, the American people must carry its torch, and the federal government must remain constrained by the Constitution. At AAF, we will advance this vision as we look forward to celebrating the 250th anniversary of America’s independence!

AI is a cheat code for ADHD brains. You can jump between 10 projects, follow every rabbit hole, and somehow still get shit done. I've never been more excited to build stuff.

First the government steals, then it offers to give back part of your earnings 🤦‍♂️
AAF’s Richard Stern was featured in the @DCExaminer on the administration’s $8 billion farmer aid package, arguing that the need for emergency aid stems in part from its own tariff policies. “This is not emergency aid to deal with an unforeseen crisis… Rather, it’s emergency aid to deal with a very foreseeable, very intentionally man-made crisis.”

If you think about it, the DSA is doing exactly what they mistakenly claim capitalism does: taking over a successful venture and gutting and exploiting it for personal gain at the expense of the people that built it 🤔
"Democratic" socialism would destroy America.

This is a pure example of politicians promising prosperity but delivering theft and destruction instead.
The people who designed the tax tried to game around people's rational behavior by making the tax retroactive. But they're mad that Hoover scholars envision a world where people don't just sit back and take it when the state calls into question its commitment to people's property rights. There's another, likelier outcome than either the official revenue estimate or what's described in the Hoover study: The tax comes close enough to passage to scare wealthy individuals into leaving, but it ultimately raises nothing because it never goes into effect (either because it fails or because courts strike it down). The net revenue effect for the state would be highly negative due to their leaving. But, hey, they got a favorable official revenue estimate on paper. And all it may end up costing California is real income tax dollars fleeing.

So, what you’re saying is it’s a day that ends in “y” during the 20th or 21st century?

Check out the latest from my colleagues going after the siren song of the “Democratic Socialists” 👇
The platform of the @DemSocialists masquerades as freedom loving patriotism but their ideas always end with more government control. Presenting freedom and socialism as complementary ideas is a lie, believed all to often by my generation. In truth, they cannot coexist.

The DSA is offering civilizational ruin masquerading as the promise of free government stuff
The Democratic Socialists of America are selling the same socialist lie with a new slogan: “freedom.” Make no mistake: Their radical agenda isn’t about freedom. It’s about expanding government power and stripping Americans of theirs. AAF’s Austin Gae and John Peluso expose the deception in @dcexaminer

Except that it’s being done by the private sector…which is the point…you don’t need or want government doing this sort of thing through coercion.
