The difference is clear to see.
Oil will go yellow and look pretty naff in no time at all.
A good non-yellowing waterbased paint is the way forward.
Customer genuinely couldn't believe the difference. – at Stockton-on-Tees, England
Not anymore.
Much harder to get work with people who class themselves as "Handymen" who try their hand at all manner of things, undercutting the skilled decorator.
Or the skilled decorator is always at the bottom of chain on projects because it's not seen as a necessity.
Is painting and decorating a good job? Be honest...

Of course it's raining whilst I'm working outside.
Of course it is.
3 of the 5 days so far this week.
What's the actual point?
Well that's a new one for me!
It would have have been harder to do what he's done rather than take it off!
Complete shambles.
@DecoratorsU
Aye, don't worry, the decorator will sort it. 👀🙄🤔
If I were to just leave this and just paint over it, who do you think is getting the blame for job being a mess? It certainly isn't the joiner or plasterer. @decoratorsforum
Had something very similar on a job last year.
Asked a customer if they'd paid the joiner/builder and were happy with his work. They said yes, so I just said I'll paint over this mess then?
It's absolutely not my job.

I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to woodwork. I like it white or very light. But this colour is quite effective with the paper.
Amazing what a bit of paint can do!
Jazzed up one of the displays at Howdens for them.
Along with their offices, canteen, showroom and bathrooms!
External work absolutely ruining my life and weekends.
My 8 days job runs into its 3rd week due to rain and wind.
Serious reconsider about these type of jobs moving forward.
