The crew proceeded to call us (the families) with false hope that it was adrift running on emergency air.

He did a lot of cool stuff before the Titan event. Like flying round the world in record time, documented in the film “One More Orbit” amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B…

My cousin Hamish Harding died in this accident. He was a great man.

This is the BBC Light Service..,
I’m joining the team at @X to lead Product. I am a huge believer in @SpaceX's mission to extend human consciousness to the stars, so it’s time to make shitposting multiplanetary. X is the best way to find out what’s happening in the world right now and talk about it. The team has been working tirelessly to make X a better place and product for the people who love it, and many have noticed the recent momentum. My goal is to help accelerate that momentum for our community, new users, and businesses globally by continuing to make this product beautiful and useful. We are twenty years in, but it truly feels like X’s next chapter will be our greatest. I look forward to your ideas and feedback; I’m sure the replies will be measured and magnanimous.

Tried using @bot to make a @vinted account to sell stuff around the house... got permanently banned on the first login before I even got to list anything.

GPT-4 was the undisputed best model in the world for a full year and we all debated whether anyone could catch up or if OpenAI had some secret formula that nobody else knew about. Now there are are 19 AI models that can run on a modern smartphone that are better than GPT-4!

How would society be if living on the public purse meant suspending the right to vote? @grok?

Old bloke in a burka getting arrested 😂 absurd
It suddenly became illegal to wear a burkha in the UK? Two-tier policing in action again today in Portsmouth.

Letter from the mortgage company that my 5 year fix at 0.99% will be rolling on to a 7% follow on rate unless I remortgage. @andyburnham how about those bond markets?

And that is, of course, how it will be done. Sentient satellites, launched into Earth-Sun Lagrange points by mass drivers on the Moon, can solve global warming for ~1B years.

AI coding is depreciating software like inflation did for boomers’ mortgages.

The British civil service is larger now than at the peak of the Empire? @grok really?
In 1922 the British Empire was larger than at any point in history. It extended to 24 percent of the total landmass of the whole world. At this time, the government had 300-350,000 civil servants. They had no computers, no electric typewriters, no calculators. Calculations that would take seconds today would take minutes or hours. Research that would take seconds today would take days and yet those 300-350,000 were able to do everything necessary to run a quarter of the planet. Today the British government employs 557,000 civil servants with computers and modern technology to run only Britain. I can’t help thinking that maybe we’re employing too many civil servants.

Lots more of this to come as AI super models enable vast cyberwarfare, I expect. They’ll enable defense too, but that requires proactive action on the part of the vulnerable (unlikely).
🚨 Iran shut down a British power plant for four days in an unprecedented cyber attack, The Telegraph can disclose. It is thought to be the first time that hackers affiliated to the Iranian regime have succeeded in closing down such a facility in the UK, and believed to be the most successful cyber attack of its kind ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/08…

Low expectations are cruel
Exactly this. They look at a bunch of inner city kids and say it simply cannot be done.
