Finding lots of tar spot across Bruce County 🌽
Now’s a great time to scout fields and compare hybrid differences. Disease levels can vary significantly, and a fungicide application is becoming an increasingly important part of corn programs in our area.

Tar spot fungicide VT/R1 treatment being applied today by @wscottjay in #WestElgin 👍 Tar spot levels low but becoming easier to find this week. R3 apps as well as other treatments later. Thanks Scott, Cheryl and my #OMAFA students ! #OntAg @CropNetwork @GrainFarmers

In Eastern Ontario as we start to scout for tar spot look near bushes, edges of fields and horizontal leaf edges where moisture tends to be higher as well as corn on corn fields, volunteer corn says @RobMillerAg #ontag #CornScouting #TarSpot

Nice weather to apply more fungicide. Corn is looking good for missing the last rain, but sure would love a drink next week.

Ugly to see but sprayer misses are a good way to see how well the pre emerge herbicide works. In this case it's the setup rate of Integrity, working pretty well under heavy pressure.

Look at that fungicide response. Planted early and tar spot infected early: unsprayed check 62 bu less then field avg. Check blocks running 12-40 bu less for the most part this year.

A look back @nickhiem farm. Seeing a big difference in kernal size which was expected. But we are also seeing a huge difference in stand-ability which before this year maybe wasn’t something we considered when making fungicide decisions. @BASFAgSolutions

Finally left a check strip in the corn this year. Be interesting to see what tar spot does to yield here, sprayed vs unsprayed at R1 @BASFAgSolutions

Better standability, better harvestability! By managing stressors like corn disease, you’re not only keeping your crop healthy, but also making it easier to harvest. Don’t let disease and plant stress knock down your hard work. 💪🌽 #ontag #harvest24
