One of the largest countries on earth has an election that ends with the losing candidate fleeing the country and his party leaders arrested.
Nobody cares.
A much smaller country has an election a few days later that is run more or less flawlessly, ends in deadlock, and suddenly there are a billion experts on its politics weighing in as if the world’s future depends on it.
Something is deeply wrong.

Something is going horribly wrong in the Senate race in Michigan. And I am going to keep calling it out.
On the one hand, the Republicans are conducting a campaign of blatant anti-Muslim fear mongering. Mike Rogers, Donald Trump and the rest of the GOP need to knock it off. Mike needs to personally and repeatedly denounce hate against Muslims.
But now, at the same time, we have TWO ads from the Democratic side that ALSO traffic in hate and intolerance — causing alarm for some Black and Jewish voters.
Seriously— WTF ????
The first ad was from Rebellion PAC (NOT the official Abdul El-Sayyed campaign). It suggested that Americans can’t buy groceries because the USA sends so much money to Israel.
That is a lie. The USA spends less than 00.1 percent of our federal budget on support for Israel. But this ad pretends bananas cost too much because the Jewish state is bleeding us dry. TOTALLY nuts. And yet — this kind of thinking has always put Jewish lives at risk. Blaming Jews for everyone’s economic problems has a long, bloody history.
Abdul did try to separate himself from the ad. He accurately noted that his campaign didn’t produce it. But the problem is: if you listen, Abdul actually NEVER DENOUNCED the CONTENT of the ad. He never said, “This ad is wrong.”
He just said, “Hey, it wasn’t me.” 😬😬😬
That ad — and Abdul’s refusal to forthrightly denounce it — is scaring some Jewish Democrats in Michigan, who now are more reluctant to vote for him.
In other words, that one ad alone is jeopardizing our party’s shot at taking back the U.S. Senate.
BUT IT GETS WORSE!
Then Abdul’s formal, official campaign put out its OWN ad — which features none other than the vile and contemptible Tucker Carlson (!!!). As you know, Tucker Carlson is a rabid, anti-Black bigot who also traffics in anti-Jewish stereotypes. He is anathema to most Black people and most Jews.
No Democrat should ever celebrate the words of a white nationalist who actively undermines the safety of Black people and Jewish people.
Moreover, given the importance of Black and Jewish Democrats to our victory in Michigan, the decision to include Tucker Carlson in any Democratic ad there is truly baffling.
Why am I speaking out about this now? Because I want Democrats to build a winning coalition — now and into the future. Chasing off any Black or Jewish voters is a path to defeat — both in the short term and the long term.
As proud Democrats, it can feel uncomfortable or risky to speak against intolerance in our own party, especially just days before a national election. It would be easier for us to let this stuff slide, shut up and close ranks.
But that would make us hypocrites. For 10 years, we Democrats have watched with dismay and disgust as Republicans (who know better) have refused to challenge ANY bad ideas or bad actions in their own ranks. As a result, their party curdled into a cult — one that is now wrecking the country AND falling apart.
As Democrats, we should not make the same mistake.
Anti-Muslim hate is wrong. Period.
Anti-Jewish hate is wrong. Period.
Tucker Carlson’s white nationalism is wrong. Period.
All candidates in Michigan need to say that clearly— and then pull down/denounce any ads that normalize hate or elevate hate mongers.

No, we are not going broke because of Israel.
- Peacetime aid package is $3.8 billion a year, 99% of it spent on American-made weapons.
- Our annual US budget is $7 Trillion dollars
- So we give them 0.05% in aid annually.
- We send $6 Billion a year to Ukraine, almost $2 billion to Jordan

I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people.
Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. That’s less than one tenth of a percent!
But there is an ad running that tells voters they can’t afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world – but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest.
You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful.
Blaming Jews for people’s problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway.
This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

The ad that should have been made 😂
👫"Honey, did you know that the money we send to Israel actually comes right back to us?”
Husband: "No."
Wife: “Yeah. Israel has to buy American equipment with the money, so it creates tons of jobs."
* Israel is required to spend approximately 92% of its regular U.S. military financing on American-made equipment and services.
Israel Saves American Taxpayers Money!
For example:
1. The Money Comes Right Back to America: Yearly, America sends $3.8 billion dollars to Israel. This money is falsely described as “foreign aid.” In reality, the money is neither “foreign aid,” nor a handout. In fact, almost all of the money that is given to Israel is immediately returned to America. Nearly all of the money has to be spent to purchase only US-made military equipment or systems. In reality, the money sent to Israel is actually invested into the American economy. The money invested into the American economy turns into mega-billions of dollars in returned value.
2. A professional auditing reveals that the $3.8 billion dollars which is given to Israel is actually a high-yield investment. The investment provides the US with an unprecedented Return-on-Investment (R-o-I). In addition, the investment serves as an irreplaceable financial multiplier for the US homeland and national security.
3. Israel is constantly under attack from Arab countries and Islamic terrorists. This reality means that Israel has the most real combat experience. When America sends new military equipment to Israel, then the equipment is tested in real life. America finds out if our equipment is effective or not.
4. The US maintains its military bases in Western Europe at an annual cost of $35 billion. This cost included maintaining 80,000 American troops. At the same time, the annual US investment in Israel is $3.8 billion with no large stand-alone US military bases, yielding to the US an annual Return-on-Investment of well over 1,000%.
5. Israel is constantly under attack. Israel uses American-made fighter jets in real combat, including strikes against military targets. By sending American equipment to Israel, the equipment becomes a battle-tested laboratory. This yields daily lessons and improvements, with equipment operations, maintenance, repairs, mechanical and technological. All of these tests are shared with the US manufacturers.
These lessons are integrated, by the US manufacturers, as modifications and upgrades in the next generation of the US military products. This process saves the US many years of research and development. Real combat saved America 10-20 years in the case of the F-35, F-16 and F-15 each. All of these tests amount to mega-billion dollars in savings and returns. Meaning, the total research and development cost of the F-35 was $55 billion, so imagine how much is saved by testing with Israel.

Let me make a substantive argument, because you and your antisemitic buddy Cenk still believe you are somehow moral and right, when in reality you are recirculating an old antisemitic trope disguised under a progressive cause
The aid agreement is financially far more beneficial for USA than for Israel
Financially for $3.8 billion USA gets $24 billion in direct and indirect return investment into the US economy, which is ~6.3x ROI (~532%) - crazily profitable for the US economy
However 80% of the aid recirculates into the US economy anyway, so effective cost significantly drops. In such a case the ROI can be calculated as even higher and is ~19x (~1800%) which is incredible by any standards
However this is not all. There are also indirect/strategic returns (intelligence sharing, R&D sharing, strategic support, cost saving measures by using Israeli facilities and etc.), so if we take these assumption for ROI, it will be even more insane in thousands of %
If this is cancelled and Israel will be free to choose what to buy and where to invest, the costs for USA will grow while benefits will drop…
And this aid has absolutely no impact on prices inside the US, it’s not how economy works and these matters are unrelated
Lastly, I’m personally for canceling this aid package and have direct economic relations rather then aid which allows the US to dictate Israel some of its decisions

Replying to @anthonyzenkus
US military aid Israel, which is almost entirely in the form of credit spent in this country to generate jobs, represents .05% of the federal budget. This ad is deceptive and scapegoating.
