I really think Darren Mougey deserves a third year as the #Jets' GM, and the more I look at his body of work, the more confident I feel about that.
Look, the record is awful. 5-19 is unacceptable. But when I evaluate Mougey individually, I see a GM who has done a pretty damn good job of building a young foundation and putting this franchise in a much better position for the future.
Look at the draft classes. Membou, Mason Taylor, AZ Thomas, David Bailey, Kenyon Sadiq, Omar Cooper Jr. All guys who have already shown legitimate promise, with several looking like long-term building blocks.
Then look at the value he's found elsewhere. Minkah Fitzpatrick for a seventh-round pick. T'Vondre Sweat for Jermaine Johnson. Dane Belton, Kingsley Enagbare, etc. He's consistently found ways to improve the roster without sacrificing significant resources.
And perhaps most importantly, look at the assets he's accumulated. Three first-round picks and a second for Sauce and Quinnen. The Jets are sitting on a ridiculous amount of draft capital with an opportunity to completely reshape this franchise.
I also like that Mougey recognized some of the flaws in his approach from Year 1 and adjusted. That's something I value in a GM.
There's still a lot he has to prove, especially when it comes to finding a franchise quarterback. But I think he's earned the opportunity to see this through and hire his own head coach.
The Jets have a lot of problems right now. I just don't think Mougey is near the top of that list.

When the #Jets fire AG, please allow Mougey to run the HC search. Mougey has multiple connections to hot candidates:
Grant Udinski — Kevin O’Connell connection
Klay Kubiak — Gary Kubiak/Denver connection
Davis Webb — Direct Denver overlap
Develop the QB, change the franchise
It’s criminal what @woodyjohnson4 is doing to this kid. Robert Saleh and Aaron Glenn.
Get him a goddamn offensive head coach and let’s go win.
Garrett Wilson on if he’s frustrated with the lack of targets recently especially as the team has lost games:
“No doubt. I’d be lying if I said I’m not. But at the end of the day it comes down to winning and losing. Throughout my experience when things go right I tend to have a part in that. And when it doesn’t, it seems avoidable.
That’s my main frustration that may show on TV but I don’t want it to be misconstrued, it all comes from the heart … it’s frustrating because I want to have an impact and I want to help the team.”

Important as baseless trade speculation continues to go nuts.
Garrett Wilson asked if he will, or has, asked for a trade:
He says “no,” and adds that he wants to be here. #Jets

Garrett Wilson on if he wants to be with the Jets:
“Yeah, I want to be. I want to win games. That’s the one thing we've been missing on here. I love it here. Do I love it more than I love winning? Nah, to be completely honest, but I'm hopeful.
“I've never been the best, like, optimistic guy, but … I've been optimistic for three, four, five years now, and that's why (the losses) each week hurt a little more.”

Garrett Wilson was asked if he’ll ask to be traded. He said no. He said he sees all the stuff on social media but he just tries to control what he can control.

The Jets are not going to eat a bunch of dead money in order to trade a 26 year old receiver the year before they draft a first round quarterback. Put a fork in it. You can stop talking about it.

Trading Garrett Wilson right now would be terrible asset management by the Jets. They JUST extended him for $130M.
A trade today would leave $24.25M dead cap in 2027. You'd lose your WR1 AND carry $24+M in dead money next season? For what, more draft picks?

Another reminder: As the Colts continue trading players ahead of the NFL’s deadline, it’s worth noting: the New York Jets hold Indianapolis’ 2027 first-round draft pick.
Trade: Colts are sending three-time Pro-Bowl DT DeForest Buckner back to the 49ers, the team that made him a 2016 first-round pick before dealing him to Indianapolis in 2020, per me and @rapsheet. Now Buckner returns to San Francisco, fortifying the 49ers defensive line.
