“A tension pneumo should be detected on primary survey before the trauma CT. basics”. Dave on WhatsApp 2020. Then set up a multi centre collaboration to test that hypothesis as no good evidence. Proved himself wrong and changed his mind. Testament to a proper researcher!

We used bootstrapping to assess model performance and found that it accurately predicted postoperative survival to 5-years with much greater accuracy than any other published model, tAUC 0.84, with the machine learning model performing better than a Cox equivalent (5/7)

As expected pT/pN stage were the most important, followed by CRM involvement and age, but others including completion of neoadjuvant treatment and surgical complications also influenced survival (4/7)
