Well over 800 games produced with The Quill (and the US version AdventureWriter, which came out for C64, Apple II, Atari 800/XL and IBM PC too). Glad you enjoyed your first adventure. The adventure columns were the best bits of the magazines! ;)

Terry Taylor, author of Labours of Hercules, went on to be one of Zenobi's regular playtesters... his reports were always very comprehensive. The Guest by Stephen Wadsworth is sadly one of the ZX Spectrum text adventures that isn't archived online.

Hewson Consultants was founded in 1980. In 81 we were still producing books. This is Hints & Tips for the ZX81, sequel to the ZX80 version which started the whole story. We can't find images of the ZX80 original - haven't seen a copy in 40 years. Maybe somebody out there has one?

There is a new version and I've named it "1.4 - The Rochdale Balrog". You can download it here ngpaws.com/pcdaad/ Although I never met @RochBalrog in person, I could clearly see mainly a good man behind his tweets, so this is my little tribute.

Been playing about with the new version of the excellent DAAD Ready today. It's always interesting comparing how exactly the same game feels different on the various platforms... especially ones that give text a lot of space to breathe...
