Extraordinary. Just 18 per cent - 36,000 - of the 202,000 people who responded to the consultation on the Home Office's crackdown on indefinite leave to remain were British citizens. Willie Haughey makes a very good point - if a company was found to be paying ghost workers, they would be investigated for money laundering.

Sir Tom Hunter and Lord Willie Haughey react to reports that around 800 public-sector workers in Scotland are being paid for roles that no longer exist, at a reported cost of £27 million a year.
With taxpayers already facing pressure on their finances, the pair question whether Scotland's no-compulsory-redundancy policy needs to be reviewed.
