A history lesson for those who thought Covid was gone; are incredulous and outraged over the parallels to HIV; and/or haven’t paid much attention to date: 🧵

It’s weird that when people realized that there was incredible social pressure to unmask, very few people stopped to consider where that social pressure was actually coming from. Most just folded and joined in. There was no resistance. It’s hard to fathom how fucked that is.

This is a mistake. Prevention is key, for protecting people but also to avoid the usual crisis in the health system during respirtaory virus season.
As a reminder : flu is responsible for 9000 deaths per year in the US in people < 65yrs

Thanks for everyone's feedback, we have updated the Google doc to better highlight some of the relative and absolute differences. @paulseaman31 the other author of this document will also be posting the information on his account as well.
What is the #Nuvaxovid COVID vaccine and how is it different?
@jeffgilchrist and I have put together a comprehensive document summarizing the available information regarding the main differences between Nuvaxovid and the more common mRNA based #COVID vaccines. 🧪🧵1/

Replying to @PHAC_GC
@PHAC_GC @GovCanHealth Why is PHAC no longer providing weekly online updates of respiratory virus data? By the time updated data are made available, virus activity may already be increasing. Delayed data have limited value for timely public health decision-making.

a major issue with the public's idea of covid is that they see it as a singular event, not a persistent ongoing threat
it's why they love saying "but it's 2026," as if airborne pathogens can perceive time
"but the govt would tell us if it was bad" really? you sure about that?

Good job leftists who really really want Medicare4All but thought minimizing COVID was more important than leveraging a fucking pandemic. We now have AOC running around spreading COVID like it's no biggie.

The flu kills ~3500 Canadians in a typical year. The #FluShot is not a guarantee, but significantly reduces rates of infection and rates of severe outcomes including death. 10 years ago influenza B killed our two-year-old son, Jude. This is an awful decision.

LAKE ONTARIO :The Sharpie was the spectacle. Section 2(a) of the executive order is the territorial claim.
While most people stared at Donald Trump’s big, fat signature — scribbled with his favourite instrument of international policy, the Sharpie — the fine print of the executive order went unnoticed.
As always, the devil is in the details.
The name change was the tip of the iceberg.
And maps are more than names.
Read the executive order.
“With the deepest parts of the Lake’s waters lying within United States territory, the United States claims most of the Lake’s volume.” section 2 (a)
The verb is the weapon. Claims.
This is not a caption on a souvenir. It is an assertion of right.
Then , further reading of the order describes the machinery.
Within 30 days, the Secretary of the Interior is to rename the lake “Lake America,” update the Geographic Names Information System, and “remove all references to Lake Ontario from the GNIS.”
Not add a name. Erase all mention of the old name from the official American geographic record.
After that, every federal map, contract, and government communication must repeat the new one.
Watch the sequence, one that China has been executing for decades in the South China Sea.
First, isolate a physical fact: the deepest point, the Rochester Basin, sits off the New York shore.
-Convert that fact into a title: the United States “claims most of the Lake’s volume.”
- Write the new name into the database.
-Delete the former name.
- Order the entire federal apparatus to speak as if the deletion had always been true.
Once that paper trail exists, it can be cited in legal arguments to claim sovereignty.
"Our maps already call it Lake America. ", says Washington!
From Sharpie to proof.
🇨🇳China perfected the method in the South China Sea. Rename the reef. Inscribe the name on the official chart. Send the ships. Treat the chart as verdict. The name goes first. The patrol follows the name.
🇺🇸The White House has written the first half of that script onto a shared inland sea.
The second half is already foreseeable.
When Coast Guard charts, Army Corps filings, and American navigation systems all say “Lake America,” patrols, icebreakers, and inspections acquire a new language.
They are no longer on a binational lake.
They are on a body of water the United States has already renamed and claimed by volume.
Presence follows paperwork.
Below is a detailed analysis of how China uses maps as a weapon to subjugate its neighbours.⏬

Maps Are Weapons. Trump Just Stole a Lake—China’s South China Sea Playbook.
After economic warfare, now comes toponymic warfare: Trump imitates China’s weaponization of map-making.
First the Gulf of Mexico, now Lake Ontario.
And Trump has just complained that he is now missing an ocean...
Some analysts tell us not to dwell on what they call the whims of a mercurial president—one with a thin skin toward anything and anyone that doesn’t bow down to him.
🇨🇦Take Canada, for instance, who dared to walk away from a trade deal it considered not in its national interest, a rather reasonable and legitimate action, some would say.... But for Trump, it’s the ultimate affront! And in a single stroke of a thick, childish Sharpie, he stripped the ungrateful country of a lake and claimed it for America—on paper, only, some say.
But those analysts are wrong.
These stains of ink leave marks that cannot be erased.
🇨🇳China proved it all over the South China Sea.
The Middle Kingdom has spent decades waging an aggressive campaign to rename geographical features in this body of water. As an undisputed superpower, it projects its might and dominance onto maps, extending its grip, tightening its fist, and violating the sovereignty of territories belonging to countries such as the Philippines and Vietnam.
In 2020, Beijing unilaterally named 80 geographical features, including 25 islands, sandbanks, and reefs, as well as 55 underwater mountains and ridges.
In 2024, it added another 64, located in the heart of areas claimed by neighboring countries.
A specific example: Ayungin Reef, which lies within the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
China renamed it North Reef (Ren’ai Beijiao) and South Reef (Ren’ai Nanjiao).
In doing so, it aims to leave “administrative traces” that will allow it to establish a legal basis for—falsely—claiming the territory as its own.
China has not stopped at mere names existing only on paper. It has embodied them.
Over time, these geographic sites have been patrolled by its navy. They have been militarized, and tensions in the “gray zones” of the South China Sea are heating up.
For the economic stakes there are enormous.
“The economies in and around the sea boasted a collective GDP of some $24 trillion in 2024, or about 22 percent of the global total. But the South China Sea is not just important to the region. It is a superhighway for global maritime traffic.” — Source: CSIS (Center for Strategic and International Studies), August 2024
🇺🇸Trump, the Great Lakes, and his baptism by fire.
Donald Trump—an avowed admirer of dictators and of Xi—won’t just be slapping a cheap, token signature on an executive order. Across the United States, just as in mainland China, all the maps will be redrawn to reflect his decision. Google—as it did with the Gulf of Mexico—will bend the knee.
And the groundwork for a territorial dispute will be laid.
Just like the China Seas, the inland sea formed by the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River holds value far beyond its weight in gold.
The eight-state and two-province geography (including Ontario and Quebec) operates as a $9.3 trillion economic engine.
If it were an independent country, it would rank as the third-largest economy in the world (source: BMO Capital Markets, 2025).
If there is one thing that resonates in the hearts of Trump’s America in 2026, it is the sound of coins clinking into their treasure chest.
So, no, a name is not just a name.

When will Novavax be offered in Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta?
Taxpayers pay taxes to access NACI recommended vaccines.
People who need a non-mRNA option for medical reasons shouldn’t receive a lesser standard of health care.

Nuvaxovid availability for the fall - PEI, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and BC and another province. WHAT THE HELL Ontario, Quebec and the other provinces????
📢💉🇨🇦 Novavax/Nuvaxovid availability update for Canada:
Documents from the Government of Saskatchewan confirm that Nuvaxovid will be available in the province for the fall 2026 vaccination program!
Saskatchewan now joins Manitoba, British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick as provinces that have confirmed the 2026 return of Nuvaxovid.
Prior reporting on BC, PE, and NB via @stillcovidingca: bsky.app/profile/stillcovidi…
Prior reporting on Manitoba from myself: xitter.cf/biff234523/status/2078…
Ultimately, it seems likely at this point that Nuvaxovid will eventually be available in some form in most or all provinces.
However, As @DoNoHarmBC has succinctly warned, pressure must still be applied to all provincial and federal public health interests to ensure adequate accessibility: “We encourage people to continue applying pressure, writing and calling their public officials to ensure that Novavax is adequately distributed and made accessible to the people who need it. We have been told that purchasing of the vaccine will be based on past uptake, which was low due to a delayed rollout and severely restricted availability, contributing to perceived “low demand”. If people are not made aware that Novavax is available and how to find it, then this may repeat itself, with the government becoming less likely to order it in future seasons.”
@DoNoHarmBC has a click-to-send email tool here, including an easy phone script, that you can use to take further action on this issue within the province: donoharmbc.ca
On a larger scale, @stillcovidingca has a tool here that you can use to send a message to health ministers in all provinces. I strongly encourage sending an email if your province has not yet confirmed availability: stillcoviding.ca/en/take-act…
