He called for stronger government-insurance industry collaboration to advance the National Health Insurance Scheme, boost agricultural insurance funding and address regulatory barriers. He further urged insurers to adapt to emerging risks and position insurance at the heart of Uganda’s ATMS agenda.

Speaking at the 6th ITC International Insurance Conference at Acholi Inn, Gulu City, under the theme “From Risk to Readiness: Navigating the Evolving Insurance Trends,” IRA Ag. CEO, @sandeprotazio , emphasised the need to move beyond identifying risks to taking deliberate action to address them. With Uganda’s insurance penetration remaining below 1%, he underscored the importance of strengthening the sector’s role in building economic resilience.

Hon. Mao emphasised the need to equip emerging professionals with practical communication skills and encouraged experienced practitioners to share their expertise. Pledging support for key sector priorities, including the National Health Insurance Scheme, he urged insurers to drive progress through initiative, collaboration and determination.

Speaking as Guest of Honour, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, @norbertmao, urged insurers to move beyond discussing challenges and take practical action to strengthen sector growth and resilience. He emphasised proactive risk management, encouraging insurers to engage institutions such as @BugandaKingdom_ in exploring insurance solutions against potential catastrophes. Hon. Mao further challenged industry players to leverage networking opportunities, professional experience and strategic partnerships to increase insurance uptake and demonstrate its value to society.
