Someone said I chose Dentistry because I couldn't get Medicine. That's about 40% true๐
I switched to Dentistry before even writing my post-utme, and my JAMB score combined with my expected post-utme performance could have put me in form for Medicine too.
I chose Dentistry because I genuinely find it fascinating. It's unique, the specialists are relatively few in Nigeria, and I see an opportunity to make a difference in the field.
Also, only a limited number of Nigerian universities offer Dentistry, so dental students in Nigeria aren't many, this means the number of graduates entering the field is relatively small.
I also believe the employment landscape is good, given the relatively small number of practitioners in the country.
So pls, I didn't choose Dentistry simply because I couldn't get Medicine. I saw a course I could genuinely enjoy, a field with its own opportunities, and a chance to build something meaningful.

Never confuse someoneโs availability with genuine love. Some people are present physically but absent emotionally.

An average medical student from UI or OAU is not on the same level as an average medical student from Babcock or ABUAD.
The people I genuinely feel sorry for are those who paid โฆ5 million+ per semester to study medical courses in private universities, only to graduate and end up not going abroad and eventually regress to earning โฆ300k monthly in Nigeria.
And that โฆ300k doesn't even retain its value by the time you factor in inflation and the cost of living. ๐ญ
