I say this with deep respect for all my Christian brothers and sisters, the memory of Charlie Kirk, and the pain of his loss. Did anyone else notice during the event how LDS theology is people's default setting? - "My husband Charlie [present tense]" People KNOW that marriage is supposed to go on after death. They know it. Their theology says the opposite, but they know it's not true. - "Charlie saw everyone as a child of God" This is not really true in mainstream Christian theology, technically we are creatures of God and are adopted into his family only after we accept Jesus. In their theology, the people Charlie usually debated were not children of God - "marriage and family is the most important calling... have as many kids as you can" The Bible talks about marriage, but not quite in these terms. Paul even seems to say the opposite in his epistles. Catholics and Orthodox even teach not everyone is called to marriage (and by extension parenthood). - Calls for people to come to Christ with no mention of the trinity (apart from Frank Turek explaining the atonement using trinitarian ideas) Time and time again people proclaimed Christ and him crucified at the pulpit, but they never mentioned what their theology says is a core belief of their faith. When it gets down to brass tax, they know an understanding of the trinity is not essential to Christianity. It may be very important, but its not at the core.
