Many reckon the 8th, 15th, or 17th best capture what the Old is all about. But the 13th would be an equally good shout. A cross-hazard of heather, the two-tiered green, and the requirement to hit a draw off the tee are three hazards so formidable that bunkers aren't needed.

18 years ago, Ran Morrissett of @GolfClubAtlas said of our 17th: "This massive 4.5 par is the only inland hole in England to rival the 10th at Sunningdale (Old) in scope." Ran will be glad to hear that nothing has changed over that time, for here, we don't fix what's not broken.

British Summer Time is officially over and evening golf will now be a memory for the next five months. Thankfully, while daylight is not on our side, we still have two fantastic courses to enjoy and a gorgeous clubhouse to retreat to if the weather's not playing ball.

A rare view of our 15th green and the clubhouse in the same shot. Oh to be a bird flying over our course and enjoying unique perspectives like this each day. They have no clue how lucky they are.

The off-course experience is just as important as the on-course experience here, and our Head Chef Matthew does a superb job ensuring that lunch in our stunning dining room is worth coming back for alone.

The 17th on a dewy autumn morning, often reached by just 9:30am with breakfast waiting in the clubhouse. Our 2 ball policy and members who value the walk and company over chasing a perfect score make quick golf the natural choice.

At Ashdown, no hole location is official until our greenkeeper's dog has had their say. This one got a very quick seal of approval.

Greens maintenance is next week, so now is your last chance to enjoy our West Course at it's best before winter kicks in. Tee times available from £31.50: bit.ly/4duiR1F

Our off-camber 13th hole - one of the toughest challenges on the West Course. Tee times available from £31.50: bit.ly/4duiR1F

Atop the hill at the far end of the course, you'll find three of the course's par-5s, a demanding stretch where heather threatens to punish any loose shot. Yet the views and tranquility from up here make the golf itself almost secondary.

The 12th on our West Course may well be one of the best holes across all our 36 holes. Book your tee time now from just £31.50: bit.ly/4duiR1F

Our uphill 7th hole is strike index one for good reason. It's probably the longest 387 yards in golf.

Twilight golf on our Old Course gives players the chance to enjoy our course at its best - quiet summer evenings, with minimal course maintenance, at great value. Book your round now: bit.ly/4lq74UA

The spike bar is where members gather to commiserate over what went wrong, but the walls tell a different story: course records and memories of our greatest members, all there to remind you that better golf is coming. Next time out, it might just go right.

Who needs bunkers when you have thick heather, cambered fairways and greens carved into hillsides, always with a severe drop on at least one side?

We're proud of our natural heathland, one of the truest in the world. Club Archivist Colin Strachan recently talked about this on the @cookiejargolf podcast.

The sweeping, downhill dogleg 14th on the West Course. Play it this month from just £31.50. Book now: bit.ly/4duiR1F

Yesterday was national #ThankAGreenkeeper Day, and we can't thank our team enough. While they don't have to rake any bunkers, they do a superb course presenting two of the most natural courses in the country, and we appreciate them everyday, but today especially.
