If gay people don't separate ourselves from gender ideology, we risk losing decades of hard won public support. Our movement was about equal treatment under the law. Today it is increasingly defined by debates over biological sex, children's education, and compelled beliefs that many gay people never asked for. We inherited the backlash without creating the agenda. It's time to draw a line before there is nothing recognizable left of the movement.
