The most satisfying victory ever. Holy crap this dude had my number. I replayed him probably 70 times. Stoked to finally move on.
Man, today I learned that y’all mofos apparently HAAAAAATE the Castlevania show. God damn, lol.
Well everyone’s opinion is their own of course, but I stand by what I said. I personally love the hell out of it.

After tweeting for a few days about Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, and mostly how much I love the hell out of it, I have one observation:
People are being really weird and quite honestly embarrassing about this game. Wtf is going on, man?
One of my favorite things about Belmont’s Curse is that, while not actually canonically connected, the game is spiritually an extension of the Netflix show. Which in my eyes is a masterpiece. It feels like I’m playing in that same world and I LOVE IT.
In January 1997 at McNichols Arena in Denver I saw Metallica debut Devil’s Dance live, BEFORE Reload even came out. It was just a “new song from our next album” and my 17-year old self went crazy. One of their best songs from that era. Love that they brought it back! 🤘🔥
FWIW: this isn’t the most dire debate by any means. It’s all arbitrary genre naming and doesn’t REALLY matter if a game is good.
That said, why would I play a Metroid game and add Castlevania to it? Metroid has earned the right to stand on its own. Metroid is Metroid. Full stop.
Castlevania is bad-fuckin-ass no doubt. But holy crap these quality of life improvements are JUST what this game needs. The mini-map and weapon swap most of all. Baffling that these aren’t in the game as-is.
If this is as real as it seems you’d have to be on some Milky Way Galaxy-level drugs to not release it and close the famous studio behind it. I mean wtf are we even doing anymore, man. A genuine tragedy.
Worse than cancelling Perfect Dark. Gaming sucks.
A purported BioWare developer has leaked a trailer for the cancelled ME 5 on Reddit.
The footage, reportedly titled "MASS EFFECT UNIVERSE," appears to suggest the project was further along in development.
Its authenticity remains unverified.

Is it a hot take to say that I don’t consider Metroid or Castlevania games to be “Metroidvania” games? Because I don’t.
Metroid games are Metroid games, Castlevania games are Castlevania games. I reserve the “Metroidvania” label for non-Metroid and non-Castlevania games.
I finished Carrie two nights ago. I think the first 6 episodes were excellent. Loved everything about it. The last 2 episodes and finale were…fine. I didn’t hate how it ended, but I definitely didn’t love it either. The prom itself was a letdown.
Still I’m all in on season 2.
The way this is the most obvious, successful path forward yet not what’s actually happening is maddening beyond comprehension. Literally everyone would win - PlayStation, Xbox, the industry itself, and most importantly us the game fans. It’s staring them right in the face.
After being a little unsure at first I’ve now fallen completely in love with Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. It’s an excellent modern take on classic Castlevania.
As a HUGE Blasphemous fan, which itself was inspired by CV, you can feel its DNA here as well. It’s just awesome. 🔥
This video I made from just two months ago is proving to have been very prescient more and more by the day. Just sayin’.

Nintendo is all I have left in gaming (probably)

There’s a lot I love about Castlevania after a few hours. It’s pretty great so far. But the rhythm of the gameplay feels a little…”off”. Not sure how to explain it. I’m still trying to get into the groove of it. Curious if anyone else is feeling the same way?
If this is even remotely as close to true as we all expect it to be then gaming will truly be over. Way too much money for consoles we don’t want or need, and that won’t even play real games. Anyone who buys and supports this will be actively hurting the hobby, full stop.
