Mate of mine keeps insisting running a sub 4 hour marathon is harder than a sub 20 5k
I’m not having it 👀 (he’s never ran close to a sub 20 5k either, but has done a few marathons)
10K is probably the odd one out for me (jumped straight from 5 to Half)
I’ve never really had a proper block for it. Was aiming sub39 before the knee knock, now sub-40 is the sensible target if I can get to the start line in 2 weeks time 🤞
I’ve raced very little
Sub20 in my first official 5K
Sub90 in my first half
I tend to train heavy, race light and look for big jumps, over racing every few weeks
Need more race exp now though. Different distances, approaches and pressure. Also supports my coaching journey
Looking to take on 3–5 runners for free for minimum 12 weeks, in November while I build out my coaching properly
Best suited to improvers in 5k, 10k, Half
All I’d ask for is honest feedback and, if it’s good, a reference after
Not a good look, take away all medals. Zero tolerance needed
The Athletics Integrity Unit has provisionally suspended reigning world marathon champion 🇰🇪 Peres Jepchirchir after an out-of-competition sample collected in Kenya returned an adverse analytical finding for EPO. The sample was taken before her Sydney Marathon win.
One of the most decorated marathoners of this generation:
• Olympic champion, Tokyo 2021 🥇
• Reigning world champion, Tokyo 2025 🥇
• Four-time World Marathon Major winner: New York (2021), Boston (2022), London (2024), Sydney (2026) 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆
• Her 2:16:16 to win the 2024 London Marathon was the women's-only world record at the time
• She owns a personal best of 2:14:43 from Valencia 2025
She can request analysis of the B sample, and the case proceeds to a charge or is closed depending on what follows.
One of the positives I've had from recent injury downtime, I've been focusing on the coaching, building out the basics of the business (registration, logos, website etc)
Still learning, but it's starting to feel much more real now. Looking to take on some free clients very soon
The late Hans Rosling in factfullness says news feels boring and uninformative because gradual, long term human progress is quiet…
whereas drama and disaster are loud, that’s why the news is so negative
NEARLY THERE.... 👀
£20 away from hitting the £2000 for fundraising for London Marathon 2027 (total target £2200)
Anything small to keep us ticking along would be greatly appreciated (and thank you so much to all existing donors so far)

I haven't tweeted a lot recently, as had quite a few things happen at the same time
On the running front, mentioned before had a fall and my knee is still not 100%, but sticking to the positives I am doing some running and cross training, so hopefully maintaining what I can
Itching to get out running again but holding off still. Don’t quite feel ready yet, might do a little tester tomorrow or Friday
Cross training again today
After yesterday's fall and medial knee pain, I did feel better this morning
Aim was to get out for a 45min easy run, but abandoned it after 1min, as didn't feel great
Sometimes, the smarter choice is to zoom out and live to fight another day
Just like Humpty Dumpty, I had a great fall today (whilst running though, wasn't just sitting on a wall). Nervous 24hrs ahead, as banged my knee.. hopefully it's just bruising...
It was just an innocuous trip on uneven path (never fallen from running before). Wasn't fun
Replying to @scottroots
@scottroots saw your post earlier on Strava about hip flexibility, not sure if you've seen this before, but I watched it recently enough - pretty good if you have the time to kill and interested - youtube.com/watch?v=Lz5zAPgx…
@scottroots although you didn't say you were necessarily in pain, just that there was imbalance. You using Garmin HRM Plus as the HR monitor to get those metrics? (that's what I use)
You’re probably better than me… 😱
A lot of the runners I follow are better than me..
That’s exactly why I follow them/you..
Surround yourself with people who raise your average..
Also, do your best to help others raise their average
🏃🏻💪🙏
Was up quite early today, as couldn’t sleep properly, so decided to just get out and get my run done
Nothing about this run looks particularly good, but I really enjoyed it today…
Sometimes that’s all you need
Holiday Return Checklist
✅ Adjust strength training for re-entry
✅ Track food intake again
✅ Sensibly introduce workouts
✅ Continue Coaching Development
Good to be back 💪🙏
My holiday is over, had to drop to
35km in week 1 (+ hiking)
56km in week 2 (+ cycling)
Will use this week to just slowly push up the mileage, gym and then eyeing up a PB in something (10km prob the low hanging fruit as never raced it properly)
Macro Goal Remains- London 2027
One good run and suddenly I’m checking race calendars and asking ChatGPT how fast it reckons I would finish
