I have been on phone just now with Chief Logan about a fire happening along the north side of Friars Road across the street from Fashion Valley adjacent to Ulric Street. I am told that crews are responding rapidly with intense resources, aircraft, and more. Please avoid the area.

1/ This morning, I had detailed conversations with our @SDFD Chief Logan & with SDGE about the fire risks we have this upcoming week with high winds. Our city resources are fully activated & SDGE’s Emergency Operations Center are fully staffed 24/7 since this past weekend.

New @sandiegopd Chief Scott Wahl and I agree that by implementing smart police practices and building trust with our community, as well as fully funding our Police Department, we can keep San Diego one of America’s safest big cities.

Let’s be absolutely clear: hate NEVER has a place in San Diego, nor anywhere else in California — and that’s why the State Legislature must pass AB 3024 as soon as possible to combat the hate littering we’ve seen in our neighborhoods.

Java Garden on Mission Village Dr in Serra Mesa is a favorite spot for so many—including my wife and I—because not only do they make a fantastic cup of coffee, but they are also locally owned and operated.

Thank you so much to Bayside Community Center, the San Diego Parks Foundation, the Carpenters Union, and the work of so many volunteers for your collaboration in making this community garden a reality.

Tierrasanta, the moment we’ve waited for is finally here: this week, repaving Tierrasanta Blvd has begun! Crews are currently in the process of ripping up the old asphalt in order to apply a brand-new surface.

District 7 roads are getting quite the makeover! Pictured here are Mission Gorge Rd, Greenbrier Av, and Mission Montana Rd, all in Grantville and Allied Gardens. Even more road repaving is on the way soon! Thank you City staff for your work to improve the quality of D7’s streets.

Recently, City Attorney Elliott and her team secured the first conviction for a gun violence restraining order. Great work City Attorney; let’s keep implementing innovative strategies like this lifesaving tool, which was created to help prevent predictable acts of gun violence.

So glad to be able to honor my friend and a hero to so many of us, Howard Wayne, with a street sign in his home neighborhood of Linda Vista. May Howard forever be remembered as someone who truly represented the values of community, leadership, and kindness.

AB 3024, the Stop Hate Littering Act, would give victims of hate littering a legal tool to hold perpetrators accountable. Yesterday, I joined @MayorToddGloria to sign the resolution I authored declaring San Diego’s support for AB 3024.

Big news: Tierrasanta Blvd will be repaved in late spring/early summer! Given that Tierrasanta Blvd is one of the most highly trafficked street segments in District 7, I have worked with staff to prioritize the street so that it’s back to good shape.

The answer to keeping inflation down is not paying people less.
The answer is bringing down the cost of goods. The cost of housing. The cost of childcare.
