It’s almost if the restrictive laws are the point of “tobacco control”, not the public health outcomes and certainly not the distraction of unintended consequences, which are the main consequences.
"We find no evidence that these laws reduce overall youth ENDS use, frequent use, initiation, or cig smoking. These null results are consistent with online purchasing accounting for a small share of youth ENDS acquisition even prior to policy adoption."

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps:
-It’s ‘sleight of hand’
-It’s ‘bated breath’
-It’s ‘lo and behold’
-It's 'buck naked'
-It’s ‘brass tacks’
-It’s ‘free rein’
-It’s ‘toe the line'

The American Cancer Society’s obsession with big tobacco is literally killing people.
Since 2021, the @FDA has authorized 65 new flavored tobacco products—including e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches that appeal to kids.
That’s 65 times @FDATobacco has put Big Tobacco’s profits ahead of protecting kids. We’re keeping score.

My father died of COPD after smoking two packs a day for most of his life.
When the @WHO finally accepts the fact that #SaferNicotine vapes don't cause COPD, how will it explain the fact that it convinced 42 countries (34% of the world's population) to ban those?

When circumstances present an opportunity, let us pursue dialogue and education. If this invitation to an understandably skeptical state legislator leads to a constructive exchange, I will be honored to celebrate it here.
The best time to start talking is now.

Dr. Au, I would like to invite you to a facilitated Zoom conversation with Dr. Gardner and 1-2 other experts in this field, including myself — whom you may at this juncture understandably view with skepticism based on the information you have been provided — simply to discuss the science and related policy issues. I would be delighted to arrange this with your staff if you would be so kind as to have them contact me at [email protected].

The cowards and reality deniers at the American Cancer Society (@ACSNews and @ACSCAN) hid my post pointing out their misinformation and that they no longer seem to care about cancer.
Here it is again.

Caffeine gets a coffee shop. Nicotine gets a moral panic.
Smoking kills. Confusing nicotine with smoke is indefensible.
My book, The Politics of Acceptable Addiction, is out now. It takes aim at the double standard.

AI generated music is 1000x better than real music.
Today I canceled Spotify and SiriusXM because I finally tested Suno.
What sold me was the first prompt I gave it:
“My favorite artists are A Day to Remember, Bring Me The Horizon, Spiritbox, Bad Omens, and Sleep Token.
Analyze all their hits and generate a song I’m likely to love based on those artists.”
It one shots an absolute banger in 10 seconds.
I'll link the song in the next tweet for anyone curious.
Why would I ever go back to Spotify/SiriusXM when I can generate music perfectly tailored to my taste on command, for free?
Not affiliated with Suno in any way btw, it was just one of those moments where I was so impressed with AI’s capability I had to say something about it.

I am astounded that this absurd Palau-fronted nicotine prohibition initiative is being taken seriously by what appears to be an expanding cult of drug war ideologues. See my brief comment on the LinkedIn post of its leading proponent, @AshOrg
