The Meerpet Police arrested & secured judicial remand of accused Golla Laxmi Narayana for stopping Christian religious conversion, for offences punishable with imprisonment not exceeding 7 yrs, without issuing notice under Sec. 35(3) BNSS. The Magistrate mechanically accepted the remand. This prima facie violates the binding Supreme Court directions in Arnesh Kumar (2014) and Satender Kumar Antil (2026). Disobedience of these binding directions may attract contempt proceedings.
