Bob Uecker's childhood friend, George Mustas, says Pat Murphy isn't the only one still getting messages from Ueck.
Mustas told me Ueck recently called him and shared he's getting to play baseball in heaven but added there's some bad news.
"He said, 'You're pitching tomorrow.'"

RIP Patrick Stewart. What an actor. I still can’t believe he agreed to do this scene. And he didn’t even mind when I ruined every take. Legend.

Today is International Animation Day.
For decades, the National Film Board has revolutionized animation. There are many great films but my personal favourite is The Log Driver's Waltz.
Created to foster national unity, it is beloved.
This is the story.

On this day, sixty years ago, Chanie Wenjack died, one week after he escaped from his residential school. His death sparked the first inquest into the treatment of Indigenous children in Canadian residential schools. youtu.be/v_tcCpKtoU0?si=Ay2g…

Chanie was a 12-year-old Anishinaabe boy from Marten Falls First Nation who was taken from his family and sent to the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School in Kenora, Ontario. In 1966, he ran away in an attempt to return home to his family. He never made it.
Chanie’s story was brought to a wider audience through Secret Path, prompting many people to learn about his life and the history of residential schools for the first time. Today, Chanie’s story reminds us of the children, families, and communities whose lives continue to be impacted by the residential school system and other colonial policies.
Chanie joined the spirit world on October 22, 1966, and Gord on October 17, 2017. Together, these dates bookend Secret Path Week and give us an opportunity to remember both Gord and Chanie while continuing the work that Secret Path helped inspire.

On this day in 2017, Gord Downie died.
Born in 1964, he was the singer and lyricist for The Tragically Hip from 1984 until his death.
Considered a Canadian icon, he was involved in environmental and Indigenous activism later in life.

October 17, 2017, marks the day Gord Downie joined the spirit world. Best known as the frontman of The Tragically Hip, Gord was a celebrated Canadian artist who used his voice to draw attention to the history of residential schools and call on all people to take action toward reconciliation.
This clip, from the documentary "Finding The Secret Path"(available on the DWF YouTube channel) features the voice of Perry Bellegarde, former national chief of the Assembly of First Nations.

POV: You told a rude Québécois kid who gave you grief for daring to speak English that fries are better with ketchup than as poutine, so now he's folk-dancing to defend the village's honour.
A big thank-you to the fine folks at @goodcompanyyqr who invited me last week to play a pregame show in #yqr. What a beautiful venue and perfect place to play. You can catch me playing with my full band next Saturday at @bobbysplacemoosejaw ! Hope to see you there!
If you are ever wondering, “what I need is a 15 minute ABBA melody performed by Ryan Hicks playing/singing all the parts (sometimes well, other times pretty cringe)?”, then I have something for you!!! I came across this video I made 15 years ago for choir

This is one of the most flabbergasting stats I've seen
Kiké Hernández is the only player in MLB history to have at least 10% of his career homers come in the postseason
