Dave was a pillar in the wrestling community! RIP my friend!
It’s with heavy hearts that we are sharing the news of the passing of longtime Nebraska wrestling official and two-time state champion Dave Walton. To his family Dave was known as the mayor of wrestling town. Known by so many around the state due to so many years contributing to the sport. Dave was a two-time state champion for Westside High School and part of the 1976 state championships team. He wrestled collegiately at UNO. Most know him as a longtime Nebraska wrestling official. If you’ve been around wrestling in Nebraska in the last 60 years - you’ve likely been around him. A wrestler through and through. The season ahead will no doubt feel different without Dave on the mats. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Take me, train me, be firm with me and I will put the world at your feet.
Be easy with me, and I will destroy you.
Who am I? I am a HABIT!

Omaha North to Memorial Stadium — and he never left home. Tyson Terry (#71), Husker DL sophomore: 4th-gen Viking, stay-home commit. High school monster — 315 tackles, 48 TFL, 17 sacks, 3x Super-State — still producing after an ACL tear as a senior. Then wrestling: 169-0. First Nebraska wrestler with four Class A heavyweight titles. He won those titles on a torn ACL. TNT isn’t a mat nickname — it’s his initials, Tyson Nicholas Terry, since the day he was born. Redshirted 2025. Debuted in 2026 vs Ohio. In every game this year. 6-2, 300. His gear shop is live. Support him. @tyson_terryyy

Always love football season! I get to be a fan and watch the guys I had the privilege of coaching continue chasing their dreams. This fall, 3 former players are competing in the NFL and 20 defensive linemen are playing college football! Proud of every one of them. Keep working and keep representing! #DLineU
Good luck to all our former players kicking off their college seasons tonight and throughout this weekend! You’ve put in the work. Now trust your preparation, attack your opportunity, and show the world how we do it. Once a Reiver, always a Reiver. Go dominate! #DLineU #ReiverBuilt #SailsUp

Time to start the next chapter TNT 🧨! 11 days, can’t wait! #GBR
Who else remembers when Tyson Terry won his 4th state wrestling championship, on a torn ACL? Amazing. His high school wrestling record was 169-0.
