What key information do you see missing from mining Technical Reports?
I find it frustrating when companies don't provide an annualized cash-flow table, but opt to simply show the summary values (i.e. NPV, IRR, Payback). When I'm reviewing a project, I typically like to create my own financial model to stress test the project - when companies have limited disclosure (e.g. only showing average annual OPEX values, not showing SUSEX by year), you're forced to make more assumptions.
Whenever I'm forced to make assumptions on a project, I typically error on the side of caution, assuming it wasn't disclosed for a reason.
How did you get into the mining industry? It's a question I ask most people when I first meet them.
For me, it started very early - my dad is a mining engineer and so was his dad. I was born in a mining community (Estevan, Saskatchewan) and knew very early on that I wanted to in the mining industry. I remember finding my grade six yearbook many years later and seeing that while most kids dreamed of becoming a professional athlete, fire fighter, etc. I proclaimed that I was going to be a mining engineer....and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in my class that followed through on their dream!
For me, the mining industry represented the opportunity to build something real. My dad spent the initial part of his career working on mine start-ups across Western Canada, and the stories he would tell of the challenges and opportunities had me convinced that mining was the industry for me.
Pictured below is my dad, Bill Weymark in 1988 at the Estevan Mine.

This year marks 100 years since Mill Three began at Britannia Beach. And the once thriving mine has spawned a large settlement in the Sea-to-Sky corridor. As @GlobalDurant tells us on This is BC, there are many celebrations planned.
