More than ever before, we need courageous media practitioners. Our country is going through a delicate phase in its democratic journey, and the fourth estate has a strategic role to play in helping the nation not squander what we have built. #NatNakasaAwards

A wonderful moment as we launched Glass Ceilings 2026! A landmark SANEF study on women in South African media.
It examines women in editorial leadership, pay and promotion, career progression, online harassment and the growing impact of cyber misogyny.
Twenty years on, the glass ceiling has evolved into a cyber ceiling.
Definitely worth the read… even if it is very sobering. There’s much work still to be done. Congratulations to Prof Glenda Daniel’s and all the brilliant women who contributed chapters.
Proud that SANEF continues to do this important work.

So the SIU issues a statement confirming what SANEF said they said. Where was the misreprentation? Nowhere did SANEF say the SIU exonerated Makhudu. Instead the org referred to the outcome of its independent legal probe - which considered "all evidence" - incl the SIU letter 🤷🏾♂️
SIU NOTES SANEF’S MEDIA STATEMENT THAT MISPRESENTS THE NLC INVESTIGATION
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has noted a misrepresentation of facts in the South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) media statement on its former chairperson, Makhudu Sefara, to whom the SIU traced the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) funds to his business, Unscripted Communications, and to his personal bank accounts.
