About 2 or 3 months ago, an acquaintance slid into my DMs asking for ₦26,000 to register for a "scholarship" at TS Academy. I was shocked. How does a project that claims to be fully funded suddenly demand a registration fee?
Any initiative that takes in thousands of people and calls itself legit should be transparent from the start. You cannot call it fully funded, then after people apply, spring a ₦26,000 fee on them. Why wasn’t the fee stated clearly as part of the requirements? Oh it was a bait!
Another mutual told me she was accepted for the "scholarship" but could not access anything because they asked her to pay ₦26,000 she never planned for.
Basically, they hide the fee, call the thing free to pull people in, then collect once people are already committed. If 2,000 people pay that amount, that’s over ₦50 million.
From what I’m seeing, this has a political undertone. They know that if they put ₦26,000 upfront, they might not even get 200 people. But when they hide it, they get over 4,000 applicants.

Just like I said yesterday, Nigerians love freebies. “They asked us to pay ₦26k” for skills that people have spent ₦400k and above to acquire.
I did a certification in Advanced Python and it cost me £1,300, which is close to ₦2.5 million.
You’re talking about whether people will get jobs after acquiring these skills. How many Nigerian graduates get jobs after graduating from university?
Tech is about innovation. Even after acquiring the skills, you still need to be creative. The good thing is that you can do amazing things with these skills even without getting a job. You just have to think outside the box.

I'm not against anyone selling their courses or doing whatever they wish , but what I don't like is deception.
You claimed it's scholarship, why not make it a scholarship, why collect another 26k in the name of acceptance fee before you can access a course .
Alot of influencers has advertised this scholarship including aproko doctor and sir wizarab, aproko doctor even ran Facebook and Instagram ads for it too....
If it is scholarship then there shouldn't be a fee attached to it or you make it obvious that this is what it costs but because of my influence this is what you will pay not doing your business under the disguise of scholarship.
If 10,000 people decides to pay 26k that's nothing less than 200M for a pre-recorded course .
This isn't help but business and you should tell us you're doing business not helping us .
