Almost three years ago, Conservative-run Bromley Council tried to knock down our Library and sell the site to a developer for flats.

Please don’t have another go at knocking down our purpose-built library to sell it to developers #savebeckenhamlibrary
Clarity definitely required from @LBofBromley
The public open space including paths & planting around #BeckenhamLibrary enhances the area but isn’t a park. Needs protection from being reassigned/disposed of, especially as library still under threat of demolition by the Council.
Breaking News - the consultants appointed by LBBromley, in their feasibility study just made public, are NOT recommending relocating #BeckenhamLibrary to the Public Halls. A reprieve for our library we hope, though future of the Halls now in question. #SaveBeckenhamLibrary
Another good reason for @LBofBromley to keep Beckenham and Chislehurst libraries in their current, spacious, purpose-designed buildings, rather than demolishing them. bromley.gov.uk/press/article… #SaveBeckenhamLibrary #ChislehurstLibrary @ashfieldlane

Beckenham Library, built in 1939 by Gold and Aldridge, is under threat by London Borough of Bromley. @C20Society member and Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Nicholas Bennett, supports its demolition. Ironically, he is also the council’s Design & Heritage Champion!

Many post-1914 buildings are under threat as land values rise and conservation budgets are slashed. Buildings are demolished at ever-younger ages and once are gone lost forever. Help us to save the irreplaceable. Join, donate or volunteer now > c20society.org.uk/action/ove… #supportc20
There’s a protest tomorrow morning at 10.30 against the Council’s plans to demolish Beckenham Library. Please join us. If you’ve a class at the Spa, Venue 28 or visiting the Library itself, pop over and say hello!#SaveBeckenhamLibrary @Beckenham @CHCelebrates @CCARA_Beckenham
It was lovely to talk with so people at @CHCelebrates just before Christmas, and raise awareness about the threat to Beckenham Library. 180 written signatures gathered in less than 4 hrs! We’ll be out and about again soon - the fight continues! #SaveBeckenhamLibrary
Beautiful woodcut print of Beckenham Library, by artist Graham Clayden. Spot the looming wrecking ball on the right. Built 1939 the library is now under threat of demolition by @LBofBromley

Not sure if he aware of the strikingly similar Purley Library, designed by the same architects, Gold and Aldridge 3 years earlier and which is grade II listed? #SaveBeckenhamLibrary @SAVEBrit @ArtDecoSocUK @C20Society @HistoricEngland
