“Evaluate.” “Estimate.” “Difference.” “Factor.” A student may be able to read every one of these words—and still not know what they mean in a math problem. Mathematical vocabulary is its own kind of knowledge. It has to be taught, practiced, and used. If we want students to become better problem-solvers, we can’t overlook the words standing between them and the math. Read more: freedomined.org/news-room/wh…

Test scores were already declining before COVID. But academic recovery since then has been slow and uneven. While the top 10% performing students have improved math scores since 2022, the opposite has been true for the lowest 10%. Math skills are cumulative, and a gap in the foundation of early grades will only grow over time. This urgent 2026 State of the Student Report from @CRPE_edu should be yet another wake-up call. Will you help raise the alarm to the NJ leaders who are in the position to do something about it? the74million.org/article/onl…

MN public schools end up in statutory operating debt because union-endorsed board members agree to insane and unsustainable % increases in contract “negotiations”. And then blame ICE and Trump 🤯 We have to stop electing innumerate activists to manage K12 money. minnesotareformer.com/2026/1…

Teaching history or glorifying violence? Philadelphia schools' world history curriculum directs students to “honor” resistance movements, including the Hamas-led Great March of Return. Students are also introduced to writings that describe violence as a necessary part of overthrowing colonial rule. American classrooms should educate students—not encourage them to glorify violence.

You’ve likely heard the claim, “Teachers are the most important in-school factor for student learning” before. There’s tons of research to back it up. But as @ChadAldeman points out in @The74, “states aren’t acting on it” with their pay policies. Despite the power of meaningful bonuses to close persistent shortages, fewer states incentivize teachers to work in hard-to-staff subjects and schools today than they did in 2022. Additionally, most states do nothing to reward and motivate their most effective teachers for strong performance. the74million.org/article/if-…

YES. Dems in up-ballot races in MN haven’t (yet), but some Dems on school boards are going to support the high school league amendment on biology-based eligibility. No other issue has this level of bipartisan support. 80+% MakeItFairMN.com @MakeItFairMN
We now have at least EIGHT Democrat candidates, all in red states, publicly breaking with their party on aspects of gender ideology—including men in women’s sports, taxpayer-funded sex changes, and secret school transition. ➡️ They see the writing on the wall: a cultural shift is underway, and they want to win. *** @jonahowheeler went first in a purple state. He’s a rare exception because his convictions are genuine. Trans ideology is a religious cult that demands absolute fealty. It is a house of cards built on lies and ultimately cannot withstand dissent. But the TRUE test will be Democrats in BLUE states breaking with their party on these issues. That will require a cultural shift in a blue state — voters sending a clear message that they no longer support these policies. Colorado is that litmus test. If Props 134 and 135 pass, Colorado will become the first blue-state domino to fall. We MUST pass Prop 134 & 135❕

These three teachers’ stories show the difference between listening to someone and trying to persuade them. When a teacher says, “I don’t want to belong to the union,” the response shouldn’t be a list of everything the union has done for them—designed to guilt trip them into saying.
