The first Bitcoin halving occurred 11 years ago. Where will SBF encounter the 2024 halving?
According to CoinWarz, the first Bitcoin halving took place on November 28, 2012. Following this event, the block reward decreased from 50 BTC to 25 BTC.
coinwarz.com/bitcoin-halving
CoinWarz data indicates the halving occurred at block height 210,000, marking a significant increase in the asset's circulation to 50% of the total supply.
blockchain.com/en/explorer/b…
The block's value was 25,383.14 BTC, which equated to $315,258 at that time. Currently, this amount of Bitcoin is valued at $941 million.
Immediately after the halving, the asset's price rose from $11.7 to $13.3. By the end of the year, Bitcoin was valued at $13.4, according to CoinMarketCap.
Subsequently, there were two more halvings in the Bitcoin network—in 2016 and 2020. In the first case, the asset's price slightly decreased from $652 to $592, while in the second case, it rose from $9330 to $9480, according to CoinMarketCap.
As of now, Bitcoin is trading slightly above $37,000, according to TradingView. The upcoming halving, expected in mid-April 2024 according to CoinWarz, will reduce the block reward to 3.125 BTC.
Cryptocurrency experts have varying opinions on the potential effects of the halving on the asset's price and the market overall. Bernstein believes that major miners will significantly increase their market share post-halving.
Pantera Capital anticipates a potential price surge, estimating that the price could surpass $148,000 by July 2025.

"Sam's Eccentric Tales: The Frog Bite"
Sam Bankman, a well-known businessman and the CEO of FTX, found himself in prison due to a misunderstanding related to financial manipulations. During one of the prison yard walks, he heard a strange noise coming from the bushes and decided to investigate. Suddenly, a bright green frog leaped out of the undergrowth and bit him on the hand.
Over the course of several days, strange changes began to occur in him. He noticed that his mind became clearer, and his intuition sharper. His physical abilities also significantly improved, allowing him to demonstrate strength and speed that he had never experienced before. Just kidding! This is the Spider-Man story!
Instead of acquiring superpowers, after being bitten by Pepe the frog, Sam noticed that his skin suddenly took on a bright green shade. Despite this remarkable change, his fellow inmates found him even more attractive for their jokes and amusements. His new "green" lifestyle in prison became a source of fun and lifted the spirits of all the inmates.
Sam became a symbol of possibility in impossible conditions, and his story spread worldwide as the tale of a man who found his true calling in the most incredible circumstances.

Sam Bankman-Fried's planes can be confiscated.
The U.S. Department of Justice has stated that SBF's airplanes are subject to confiscation. According to the statement, they were acquired using funds obtained through fraudulent means. Two airplanes, purchased by Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) through the company FTX, are subject to confiscation, as reported by the United States Department of Justice.

The aircraft in question are the Bombardier Global and Embraer Legacy. Lawyers believe that they were purchased using funds obtained through fraudulent means. FTX has stated that the loans used for their purchase were not substantiated with proper documentation.
"Initially, Embraer was purchased for $12.5 million, and Bombardier was purchased for $15.9 million using financing provided by FTX," as stated in the court document.
Furthermore, the statement mentions that the possibility of confiscation has arisen due to "crimes described in counts one through four and count seven of the indictment" that have been filed in the SBF case.

Sam Bankman-Fried has requested to be released from prison due to poor WiFi.
The SBF lawyers have filed a new motion. They have once again requested the release of their client from prison pending trial. They claim that he cannot adequately prepare for the trial because the internet in the correctional facility is too slow. The lawyers of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried have filed a motion to modify the pretrial detention conditions.
They are seeking to release SBF pending trial, citing his inability to prepare for the proceedings.
This time, the defense has complained about poor WiFi. The motion states that Bankman-Fried has not been provided with sufficient internet access.
As a result, according to the motion, he has lost time reviewing the case. Therefore, the lawyers insist on changing the pretrial detention to house arrest.
Additionally, the lawyers claim that there is no other way to address the internet issues. This is the second motion filed by the defense on this matter.
Previously, the court allowed Sam Bankman-Fried to use a laptop in prison from 08:00 to 19:00. However, as stated in the motion, these conditions are not being upheld in practice.
Prior to this, Sam Bankman-Fried had complained about "inhumane" conditions of detention. According to case materials, these conditions include denial of access to certain medications and a vegan menu.
The court remanded the former FTX CEO into custody at the request of the prosecution. Authorities accused him of attempting to discredit witnesses for the prosecution.

The former FTX top manager has pleaded guilty.
Media have learned that former co-CEO of the FTX Bahamas division, Ryan Salame, has admitted his guilt. He was previously charged with violating campaign finance laws. Co-head of the Bahamas unit at FTX Digital Markets, Ryan Salame, has pleaded guilty. Bloomberg reported this, citing its sources.
Details of the former top manager's deal are currently unknown. It is presumed that Salame's case will be heard in the federal court in Manhattan on September 7, 2023.
Recall that in April, agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a search at his residence. In early August, it was reported in the media that Salame was in negotiations for a deal with the authorities.
It was anticipated that he would admit guilt in violating campaign finance laws. While working at FTX, he spent approximately $24 million supporting various candidates.
Whether Salame will testify against the former CEO of the exchange, Sam Bankman-Fried, is currently unknown. He is not included in the initial list of witnesses for the prosecution.
Previously, other top executives of FTX Group also admitted their guilt. This includes former CEO of Alameda Research, Caroline Allison, former CTO of the exchange, Nishad Singh, and its co-founder, Gary Van.
Recall that the U.S. Department of Justice also demanded the exclusion of witnesses for the defense. SBF's lawyers have enlisted experts in finance and law for the case.
