Inside the Kirk this morning with the story of the bells and the Belfry Door.
Haddington have recently taken delivery of a full set of new ropes from Avon Ropes. This has been made possible with a grant of £1000 from Haddington Common Good Fund, with the balance of the cost paid by the Church … 1/3

The bells which rang today were installed in 1999 after the originals were ‘removed’ in 1650. @SBellringing

Thanks to Mike and Simon from @SBellringing for the tour today of the incredible 18th century bell tower of St Andrew's & St George's West @StAGW1 on George St, Edinburgh. 🔔 Our director's heartbeat and wobbly legs have almost returned to normal now! 😱

Congratulations to the bellringers who achieved their peal attempt in honour of the Coronation. They rang over 5000 changes over approximately three and a half hours.

Nice plain course of Grandsire Triples at @Stmaryskirk this morning. (@SBellringing) (I should add that the picture was taken some time ago; twitter won't let you post sound without a picture.)

44 lucky visitors had the chance to ring the historic bells of St Machar's Cathedral thanks to the wonderful ringers from @SBellringing at UNI-Versal Music Festival 🔔 #DidYouKnow that the bell was saved at the last minute just before the tower collapsed in 1688?

Thanks for a really special visit. The children were thrilled to have been there and spoke about it in assembly. We appreciated your time to explain how everything works & the bell sounded wonderful…..very moving.
At Inveraray the tenor was tolled for one hour from 12noon. We invited children from neighbouring Inveraray Primary School to come and watch the bell being rung. The children were fascinated to see the rope moving and also to watch the bell from the belfry observation window.

Link to a story in the Edinburgh Evening News. Shame the recording doesn't include the passable (but nervous) touch of Gransire Triples. (@SBellringing ) edinburghnews.scotsman.com/n…

😍🕒❤️ The #OldSteeple pictured in 1962; sixty years ago. The landscape around the clock tower has changed so much over the course of hundreds of years! It's seen it all from the very beginning! #Dundee #ThrowbackThursday 📍 Old Steeple 📸 via @DundeeArchives

Alternative view of the Tyne at Haddington from the other scary roof door at @Stmaryskirk. Mr. Jackdaw giving me the eye for poking my nose into his territory (@SBellringing ). Nice to get Grandsire Doubles with a cover on a Sunday.

Sneak aerial view of the Tyne at #Haddington, taken through a door we now have to open in order to get sufficient ventilation in the ringing chamber. (@SBellringing).
