So we’re acknowledging some things now. Cool. Let’s acknowledge that it’s still here. Let’s acknowledge that we’re doing nothing to stop repeat infections and we’re still burying first-wavers and guaranteeing everyone develops persistent chronic infection, including children.
Covid constitutes the largest mass disabling event in the United States since the Americans with Disabilities Act became law in 1990. Now, the Trump administration’s anti-worker and anti-disability turn has created a climate of fear and difficulty around Long Covid accommodations. motherjones.com/politics/202…

Wife had an ear infection and was taking care of their sick daughter. This detail is KEY. Healthy dad comes home after a short run with calf pain, and thinks he pulled a muscle. 3 days later he collapses mid workout and dies of a pulmonary embolism. It’s Covid and they have no idea.

The only question is this: why do the people on the JCVI not looking papers like this for decision making?

Bottom line: COVID is not "just like flu." It has carried a population mortality burden several times larger than flu A, and that burden continued past the emergency phase. Sustained surveillance and prevention still matter.

Anyone responsible for infection control in a healthcare setting suggesting either we don’t need masks, or if we do they need to be surgical masks should be forced to wear clown shoes. Everyday. Size 20+. For the rest of their lives.

Will have to wear a fluid-resistant surgical face mask. 🤦 Chief Nursing Officer: “For some people, flu can be a very serious illness. Everyone can play a part in reducing the spread of flu and other seasonal viruses.”

Even Musk’s Grok knows COVID infection is dangerous. Why is Public Health constantly downplaying it?
COVID can make the body age faster than the calendar says. The virus damages DNA, pushes cells into a worn-out state, fuels chronic inflammation, shortens the protective tips on chromosomes, and in some survivors adds roughly 5 years to biological-age clocks. Brain gene patterns can also look like extra years of decline. Multiple studies link these effects directly to the infection itself.

The refusals to make COVID VACCINATIONS universal and allow the NOVAVAX VACCINE in the UK are as bad as the UK GOVERNMENT campaigns to "EAT OUT TO HELP OUT" and send children back to SCHOOLS without VACCINATIONS or MITIGATIONS such as VENTILATION & AIR FILTRATION. DEADLY...

If masks work why don’t they introduce them at the start of a COVID wave?
The hospital is introducing the masks from today manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…

I’m pretty angry at Public Health bodies promoting their “wonderful” Flu & Covid vaccine programme, while they fail to mention you have to be a left handed unicorn over the age of 900 to qualify for a Covid vaccine in the UK now*

Call me whatever you want, but I believe a society's goal should be to secure the highest quality of life and happiness for its citizens, not to endlessly generate capital for the ownership class at everyone else's expense.

A University of Osaka study of 1.5 million people found COVID-19 nearly doubled the risk of autoimmune rheumatic diseases requiring treatment. Related hospitalizations were nearly 19 times higher. nature.com/articles/s41598-0…

What’s the point of the Covid inquiry if we are in the 13th Covid wave now & we are using PPE like it’s 2010 & aren’t testing for Covid on admission, staff who have Covid don’t have to test, & nhs staff aren’t on the eligible list for Covid vaccines?

Summary: n95 masks are very good at protecting you against exposures to airborne viral illnesses even in close proximity.
University of Hong Kong researchers analyzed 40 airplane outbreaks of COVID-19 and flu. Infection risk was highest near infected passengers. Models found N95 masks nearly eliminated transmission, while doubling ventilation alone was insufficient. pubs.acs.org/esthag/article/…

Hi Charles, thanks for your question and your curiosity. Fundamentally it's about risk - the likelihood of developing a significant sequela of a SARS-CoV-2 infection is significantly higher than the majority of people realise.

Daily N95 wear has been a life-changer for me. Not being sick for 6 years was like getting 14-21 days back per year from a single acute illness. Let’s say 84-126 extra healthy days. It’s incredible when you think about it. Masks on planes =no brainer. Daily public masking? Same.

Could’ve been avoided if they’d started wearing respirators as the Covid wave began. 40% of HCWs getting Long Covid … I wonder what the NY is going to look like for some of them 🤷🏻‍♀️The remaining 4 will inevitably be out too in the next week or so, so 😷

👉"Mask-wearing effectively reduces short- and long-range transmission. We modelled surgical masks (50% filtration efficiency) and N95 masks (95% efficiency)" "N95 masks showed near-zero secondary infections across all outbreak scenarios"
