“We don't need to increase taxes further... it’s now on us", Rachel Reeves said last year, after hiking taxes by £40bn. If she breaks that promise today, the Government will have lost what little credibility it had left. Nobody should ever trust them again.

Big moment at #PMQs. Keir Starmer refused to say he would stand by Labour’s manifesto promise not to raise income tax, national insurance, VAT or corporation tax. It is increasingly clear the budget will include a significant rise in income tax - because it is the only clean way, ministers believe, to fill the £35bn budget black hole.

In 2006, London was raising a billion pounds a week on the stock market. Today it’s down 99% - the London Stock Exchange lags behind Mexico for IPOs. Why? Stamp Duty Taxes and ESG regulations top the list of reasons London isn’t seen as desirable. Capital can move. If a country makes itself less desirable to the wealthy and successful, they don’t lose any sleep over it they just go where they are treated best. The UK is now making itself less desirable across the board. It’s less safe, less free and sky high- tax. Every country has to make the choice: - become a desirable place for business/wealth and thrive. - become high-tax, high regulations and flounder.
The London Stock Exchange is dying. We have dropped out of the top 20 IPO markets, falling behind Mexico. In 2006 London raised $51bn, this year it was $248m. A 99% decrease. Some thoughts on why this matters and how we change course 🧵

That peak you see on the far left is when everybody had a total meltdown over @trussliz. Now look at the 30 year gilt under Starmer and Labour, up to a new high of 5.6 today. Yet where is the clamour for Starmer to go?

Sounds like Putin is going all in against Prighozin. Putin knows that he can’t appear weak, but the question is whether he has the capacity to stop the rebellion. These is not peaceful demonstrators on Belotnaya Square. This is a highly armed rebellion
Putin called the situation a criminal adventure, betrayal, treason, rebellion, apostasy and a stab in the back - from his address regarding Prigozhin.
