I know plenty of folks who make a living from writing. I see how much work they put into it, and stress over report. Kudos to them, they are extremely hard working. I prefer my laziness.

Friday is every writer's favourite genre: fantasy. Specifically, the fantasy that you'll get heaps of writing done over the weekend. Good morning and happy Friday eve.

Finally the temperatures have dropped to the point where I can start visiting the library and do some writing there. In other news, working on the revamp of the newsletter, and other changes for the coming new year

Should have followed my instinct to buy a log cabin and opt out of society ten years ago.

My brother is a musician, and while I’m insanely proud of his musical accomplishments, nothing made me prouder to be his sister than seeing him leave this comment on someone’s post bragging about using AI to do the thing he’s poured his entire soul into for over 20 years. 😂🥲

I appreciate you sharing my post about AI and the negative effects it can have on writing and proofreading. I recently got to check a book written by a human and edited by AI. It missed a lot of simple stuff! Learn more at Wordrefiner.com. AI doesn't think; it fetches, averages and makes a lousy editor. @AlysonMB1

#RIPTimCurry Sad to see that one of my favorite actors, the supremely versatile Tim Curry, has passed. I met him at a pop culture event in Utah some years back. Even with limitations following his stroke he was warm, kind, and hilarious. What was your favorite movie of his..?

Hmm. I may start using my art to tie into my writing more, or write around my art. Might be fun

The average day of a writer be like: -Clears plans for the day to write -Gets coffee, has snacks, is ready to write -Spends the entire day staring at a blank screen -Cries

The army of marketing bots and scammers have mostly killed collaboration and otherwise these last few years. That coupled with AI makes the current writing reality a gauntlet.

🚨RANT INCOMING🚨 Y’all, I am tired. The most recent report (if you can even call such slanderous, defamatory garbage “reporting”) from The Atlantic has me so burnt up, I can’t even put into words how disgusted I am, but I’m gonna try. I remember when gen AI first came out and everyone said, “Oh, iT’lL nEVeR rEPlaCe hUmAns,” and I just shook my head and said, Wait. Two years later, I lost my six-figure salary to this monstrosity because my employer thought replacing me with a robot was a smarter move. Then, the argument became, “bUT yOu cAN tOtaLly TeLl wHeN iT’s aI.” Again, I shook my head and said, Until you can’t anymore. Folks, when are we gonna stop wielding our torches and pitch forks and throwing around accusations based on running authors’ works (predominantly female, BIPOC authors, it seems, and WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION) through AI detection programs, WHICH ARE USED TO TRAIN AI??? I’m gonna say this once, and I hope it’s loud enough to get through the knuckle-draggers’ thick skulls out there: YOU CANNOT TELL IF SOMETHING IS AI UNLESS THE AUTHOR EXPLICITLY TELLS YOU THEY USED IT AND/OR THEY LEFT A PROMPT BAKED INTO THEIR BOOK!!!!! Furthermore, you can’t claim to be against AI usage while simultaneously running others’ work through AI detectors (which, again, USE AND TRAIN AI BASED ON WHAT YOU FEED THEM, FURTHER PERPETUATING THE THING YOU PURPORTEDLY HATE), and then use that as “evidence” to drag someone’s name through the mud. I am so beyond tired of this bullshit, and I can’t believe that we as a society have allowed this to go on for as long as we have. When are we going to say enough is enough and demand that this shit be eliminated or at the very least regulated????? Damn. Are we really just going to sit back and stay silent about this while careers and reputations continue to be destroyed? Excuse my language, but what the fuck?!
