I didn't really appreciate how important this fragment of #gold #torc was until I had a brilliant meeting with two researchers last year. Dr Tess Machling @Tess_Machling and Roland Williamson @bodgit_bendit. Read their superb research and write up here. bigbookoftorcs.com/2020/02/0…

Best bits from today, all clean and sparkly 😊 I think my favourite is the snake buckle, part of, (bottom left) the first I've found, and in very close second place, the clog clasp (bottom right)
The crop of Oil Seed Rape on one of my more productive fields has partly failed. Of course the failed bit is on the least productive area, but it is good for scrap metal..... 😂

Silver coins (50% silver) were replaced in 1947 by Cupro-Nickel. Hence the bottom two being in a corroded state. A few hours in the tumbler leaves them in a respectable state 😁

When the pyramids of Egypt were being built, we were probably in the transition stage of stone to metal. Neolithic - Bronze Age.

My button finds are not of great historical importance, but I do like them. The variety I've found has really surprised me, only revealed when I started cleaning them. Now up to 156 different designs.

Elizabeth I penny Edward III halfpenny Unidentified penny, mint of York. Fragment of Medieval purse bar. Several buttons today, a few will need cleaning before I can read them. And a nice little hammer head, from a kiddys toolbox?

A fragment of a Medieval purse bar. Showing the common diagonal line, but with the addition of further engraving between, which I've not seen before.
