The Dixie National Forest just announced their "controlled burn" fire mitigation plan for 2025-26. They will be treating 3 areas for a total on 2598 acres. That is less than 0.01% of a forest that is way more overgrown than not. We can and must embrace better methods.

🚨Wildfire Update It will soon be one month since I was on this property, and still no @UtahFFSL and @FireAuthority crews are working here to thin trees and carry out the wildfire mitigation plan issued by the Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands. I hear the delays are caused by @SLCoGov, @SLCGov, @LBriefer, and @SLCPU. Because of these delays, I doubt crews will be on the mountain this fall. Public safety is a core responsibility of the government. What are Salt Lake County and Salt Lake City/Salt Lake City Public Utilities prioritizing over public safety? @BrightonUT
This week, I took a tour of private property in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Lots of hikers were enjoying the trails and scenery. The State Wildfire portal lists this area as high and extreme wildfire danger. Private landowners now have a Wildfire Mitigation Guide/Plan prepared for them by the State Forestry and Fire. But Salt Lake County ordinances and Salt Lake City say NO! According to their ordinance, if these landowners thin trees, they will have to plant two trees for each tree they thin or remove. This would compound the already extremely heavy fuel loads.  Make it make sense.  It's the perfect time to work in the canyons. Hopefully, Salt Lake County can get this figured out soon before winter sets in.

There has to be a better way to manage forest overgrowth. We've had multiple discussions about this. We just need to apply better prevention that is scalable to the threat in front of us. facebook.com/share/r/15i8XrV…

Tucker Blasts the US Government for Overlooking the Fentanyl Crisis in Favor of Ukraine “Let’s just do the body count,” examined @TuckerCarlson. “So what’s the total number of Americans murdered by Russia in the last three years?” He answered, “I think it’s around zero.” “And over a 100,000 Americans die every year from that poison [fentanyl],” he contrasted. “That’s hundreds of thousands of Americans dead, mostly young people.” “So if you had a country that allowed hundreds of thousands of your fellow citizens to die at, say, age 23. And I’m sure every person in this room knows someone or knows someone who knows someone who’s died. It’s not some abstract epidemic. It’s so big that everybody knows somebody.” ------------------------------ Share if you care. And follow (@VigilantFox) for more Tucker clips.
