Warning - this is a bit gross. I was at the river with the #Magpies I had a few peanuts 😆 This bird came over and regurgitated this pellet 😳 then grabbed a peanut and flew off. I found a stick to pull it apart but am mystified by the contents. Ideas?

Road trip to the mountains yesterday: Mount Yamnuska underlined by a strip of low-lying cloud, cute little Pine Siskens foraging at a gas station in Banff, American Dipper was at the same location as a month ago. 😍

Many don’t like #Magpies because they steal the eggs of other birds - a crime of opportunity as the magpies raise their young. But Magpies also help other birds. and species. Their sturdy nests provide shelter as I witnessed with this flock of sparrows on a cold snowy day. 😍

Being given some instructions by Braveheart. 😆 An embarrassing walk this morning, being followed around by a flock of #Magpies who were convinced that I was NOT out of peanuts, but was just withholding them out of spite. 🤪

Ten past five, Braveheart time. 😆⏱️ At the riverbank, the leaves are grounded, goodbye green until May… Perhaps that’s why I love our colourful #Magpies We are all preparing for the grey months ahead.

This lonely little female Common Goldeneye was paddling along next to the path at Lake Louise yesterday. Merlin says it is uncommon to see one here. One tourist was loudly proclaiming this was a Loon, a true symbol of Canada. Oh well. 😆
