Happy (and proud) to share EarlyFMT is now published in @Lancetgashep!
#FMT after vancomycin outperforms vancomycin alone for 1st or 2nd #Cdiff infection!
90% FMT vs 33% vancomycin alone.
Our thoughts behind the trial journey that started 5 years ago?

Raygoza and colleagues show for the first time that changes in the gut microbiota precede Crohn's disease onset by up to five years , supporting a causal role of gut microbiome alterations in IBD.

Maybe it’s time to reconsider that a “FMT treatment” is not just a single administration, but rather a treatment sequence of multiple administrations?
#UEGWeek #UEGWeek2023 @marcellofiorani has presented our results of #FMT in a large cohort of patients with severe CDI. Sequential is better! #microbiomeclinicians

In all my years of #FMT practice, I have never had a situation where I regretted having performed an FMT, ...but there are still individual cases where I do regret not having performed an FMT earlier!
Can the effect of FMT for recurrent CDI be optimized?
We tried. It was not easy.
Overall, we did reach a 91% following multiple FMT, but only 69% from a single FMT.
A small 🧵1/5

4/5 When we repeated the FMT, we observed the following outcomes:
... indicating that if FMT does not work initially, then it could be repeated with good effect.
