The book advances our understanding of homeownership/real property rights among low-income households in African #cities.
Our latest piece in @HousPolDebate Journal shows that the #Housing First Model reduces use of health care services among chronically #homeless individuals served by @MHSA_Revolution. The resultant savings offset significant portion of the cost of housing

The US construction industry can increase available housing by 1% to 2% per year.
But the US population is only 330M out of 8B.
So if just ~4% of Earth moves here, housing would need to double, which is impossible, causing a massive homeless problem and house prices to be astronomically unaffordable.

I am privileged to be featured on the UCLA Housing Voice podcast where I enjoyed talking to @ShaneDPhillips about my article in Urban Affairs Journal on the health effects of housing and property rights among low income households in Kibera.
This week on UCLA Housing Voice we spoke with @SMuyeba about a natural experiment in slum upgrading in the Kibera neighborhood of Nairobi, Kenya. He looked at the physical and mental health impacts of both secure tenure and quality, affordable housing lewis.ucla.edu/2023/08/09/56…
