Summer should not be simplified as a well deserved break for educators. It’s way deeper than that. It is a time of rest, reflection, & renewal so that we can be our best selves for our students 🍎❤️

Extremely disappointing that no one @wfaa @wfaaizzy @MikeLeslieWFAA @dalehansen mentioned a single word about the NCAA Women’s College World Series being played in Oklahoma City. #Title9 #supportequalityinwomenssports #NCAA

INSANITY: Texas is only 36.8 vaccinated and still over 1,070 deaths from COVID each month. WHY IS TEXAS LEADERSHIP SUPPORTING MORE OPENINGS AND LESS MASK MANDATES UNTIL VACCINATIONS REACH 70-80 %? #VILLAGEofIDIOTSMentality #AbbottFailedTexas #AbbottFailedTexasAgain

I can't even open the story because the picture says enough. I have stepped in front of fists, dodged flying pencils, chairs, scissors, and biting ...but NEVER a shooter. This picture has nothing to do with academics....it's all in the investment of relationship.
When a student opened fire at an Idaho middle school, teacher Krista Gneiting directed children to safety, rushed to help a wounded victim and then calmly disarmed the sixth-grade shooter, hugging and consoling the girl until police arrived. wfaa.com/article/news/nation…

That's for sure! Can you say, "resilience????" ;) #resiliencechat
Would we have public education as it is currently structured if not for the child care component it provides? #resiliencechat

?connections require proximity? Is 2+2 not 4 if not learned without connections? #resiliencechat

A2: None. The Opportunity to approach unfamiliar is the next skill of the future. All gain requires exchange. #resiliencechat
Q2: What do you think has been the biggest loss this year for students? #resiliencechat

If data was collected on learners that lost a year due to non-cerebral trauma and then returned to their learning sequence, then this conversation would hold more substantiated ground. JIMO #resiliencechat

Where is the evidence of loss? Or is loss just another manifestation for learned differently - not quantified to standardized assessment ?#resiliencechat

When we lose the struggle we lose the ability to gain.
This was a situation where it was all about gaining something--not losing anything. #resiliencechat

We should spent far less time measuring and much, much more time teaching. #resiliencechat
A5: I believe it’s important to measure growth (progress students make towards mastery of a standard). Depending on a student’s ability to cope with COVID-19, they have been learning at different rates. We should provide GRACE & focus on learning. #resiliencechat

Confinement is a bounty of our own mind not a physical dimension. # resiliencechat
A2: outdoor learning and classrooms truly put most students (and teachers) in a different mood as opposed to being confined by four walls...from an SEL standpoint...it really makes a difference #resiliencechat

I wonder what was lost in the absence of their journey for water. Comfort is the thing that often harms us the most. #resiliencechat
I helped to build a system in Africa where rain water was caught on a roof and able to be stored and accessed from a tap. It was amazing for the village! They no longer had to walk miles for clean water. #resiliencechat
