@SJohnsonSport on the 'rebuilding' that Xabi Alonso needs to do with Liverpool & Man United to come...

Great ๐
Chelsea striker Joao Pedro will be sidelined for โa few weeksโ with a thigh injury, manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed.
Pedro, who has scored five goals and provided three assists in seven appearances in all competitions this season, missed Saturdayโs defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Chelsea next face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, before hosting Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday. Alonso's side also play Sunderland before the international break in November.

"You can't trust Chelsea anymore."
They've lost more games in all competitions than any other side in Europe's big-five leagues since the start of March ๐ฌ
Is this just who #CFC are? Or are ups and downs to be expected right now under Alonso?

It is rare for me to be too chipper in the morning. Even rarer to have to discuss a #CFC home defeat to #THFC .But both had to be tackled on @SOCobhamPod today. With @MattDaviesAdams & @bosherL: youtube.com/watch?v=ZKNmU2Xbโฆ

Has Cole Palmer forgotten how to be โice coldโ? The man who sells his own brand of ice cubes & trademarked the name โCold Palmerโ lost his cool when #CFC required him to be at his best against #THFC. My column here: nytimes.com/athletic/7721251โฆ
Could it have gone any worse? ๐ณ
This just never happens...

Back to square one for Chelsea under Xabi Alonso?

A nightmare for Mike Penders.
That's a horrible moment for a young goalkeeper on his Premier League debut.
A cross comes in from the left, he tries to punch but it spins off his glove, hits the underside of the crossbar and crosses the line despite desperate attempts by Chelsea to clear it.

No Joao Pedro in the squad, Welbeck is named on the bench so looks like Rogers up top. Penders starts as expected with Martinez injured.

That's it, #CFC win 2-0. Comfortably the best result of Alonso's brief reign so far. Would have been a good victory anyway, but throw in Martinez's injury, a first clean sheet since January and it really is a break from the norm. You can tell the players and Alonso are happy.
Straight Outta Cobham retweeted
That should be enough to seal it for Chelsea despite 11 minutes of time added on against Everton.
Pedro Neto adds his second with a composed finish past Jordan Pickford.
It's the first time in 207 Premier League games that Neto has scored twice in the same game.
