UI and math time! UI = f(props) is the most famous line in React. But that f is JavaScript, not math. Inspired by @_chenglou’s Handwired project, I compiled a <Dashboard/> component into a real math function, and asked what becomes possible. calculus-of-interfaces.verce…

The only path forward is full stack engineering. You will become a aerospace mechanical chemical design engineer and you will like it.
so basically software is fucked, CAD is fucked, the only way through is to follow the SendCutSend model. every feature you develop will be swallowed and exploded by the Big Labs

After many years of scraping by, saving every extra penny... I might be able to pay off the machine tools I bought many years ago. This might be one of the best days of my life.

Astro 7.4 ships experimental parallel prerendering. I tried it on the Astro docs (6,358 pages): build time went from 67s to 37s, 45% faster. 🚀

Big news for CAD: SMLIB, NVIDIA's NURBS based kernel is finally open source today 🍻🎉 We have been working with SMLIB and its dev team for more than 20 years. It enables all our products: classcad.ch headless CAD, GUI, AI/MCP, PDM, etc github.com/NVIDIA-Omniverse/…

The PS5 got jailbroken and within less than a week people got PS2/PS3 physical discs working on PS5. Years of them lying to us about how impossible it would be, debunked in less than a week.

We're hiring exceptional engineers to join the team. No degree required. All we care about is you being smart and able to solve hard problems. Total comp is $550k-$1.1M (job ad says something else, but ignore that).
Join Polaris, a new @GoogleDeepMind team designing the complex evaluation frameworks that will define the future of AI coding agents, and give you the autonomy to prototype architectures and publish research. Experience? We care about how you think and build, not your “level.” Apply now: goo.gle/4AD2av6

Would love one of these for a home weather station display
I have discovered $50 amazon photo frames to be the PERFECT home display screen They can be rooted, updated to run a modern browser, have WiFi and can be powered from USB 1280×800 resolution with a nice touch screen I detailed how to hack these yourself in my latest video wesbos.com/hacking-smart-pho…

I was on the Docs team 15 years ago. The rewrite (from Writely to the new OT-based editor) had just launched. We were facing an enormous list of features we lacked that prevented enterprises (and some consumers) from using us. I think we didn't even have inherited text styles at that point. Markdown was so far down the list compared to absolute basic editor functionality. Plus there were some reasonable arguments against it, like "the 'spec' is some guy's webpage" The thing that stopped it for the next 5 years (which was how long I was on the team) was that the Word <-> Docs conversion service was a separate team based in Sydney called Changeling. Having literally opposite work hours made it difficult to coordinate with them, plus it made it easy for the I-don't-want-Markdown-in-Google-Docs crowd to just say "obviously Markdown conversion should be handled by this other team that's really difficult to coordinate with," which was a really effective way to shut it down in favor of things that would better help them game promotion. I don't have any insight into why they finally started prioritizing it a few years ago, but my guess is that they started losing contracts to Notion which is a lot more Markdown-native

I am curious what were the challenges that prevented Google Docs from shipping Markdown support 15 years ago and how they have finally overcome those hurdles
We are making Markdown files work natively across Google Drive and Docs. You can now preview .md files in Drive, open them in Docs, edit them, comment on them, and collaborate without converting the file into a Google Doc!

Fully onboard with vibe manufacturing. I've been designing this little answering machine for my kids + fam. Had Astra source parts and design the enclosure around their specs and build this model site. 3d print + ESP32 + Astra is so fun.

cloudflare's new clef model is pretty cool. this weekend, I tagged all 200+ NHL goals so far this season. Who's on screen, celebrations, scrums, shot type, etc didn't spend more than $2
introducing 𝚌𝚕𝚎𝚏: our first models trained by @cloudflare's workers ai team. today, we're releasing two fast and accurate decision models that top the benchmarks for quality and latency. use them hosted on workers ai or grab the weights from @huggingface, because we open-sourced it too. blog.cloudflare.com/clef-dec…
