Throughout the days leading up to November 11, we will be highlighting our veterans, sharing their military experiences, and expressing our appreciation for their service and sacrifice. Today, we proudly recognize Robbie McLaughlin, a veteran of the United States Air Force. Robbie served from 2013 to 2019, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his six years of service, he primarily worked as an Avionics Technician on the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft, commonly known as the U-2 spy plane, supporting one of the Air Force's most specialized intelligence-gathering aircraft. His military career took him across the globe, with primary duty assignments at Beale Air Force Base in California and Osan Air Base in the Republic of Korea. Robbie also deployed to Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates and RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, contributing his technical expertise in support of critical Air Force missions. At STI Electronics, we recognize that the dedication, technical knowledge, discipline, and commitment developed through military service are qualities that continue to make a difference long after the uniform is retired. Ben Lovett began his service in 2017 as Airman Recruit from Arab, AL. He attended boot camp in Great Lakes, IL and then later attended AT “A” School in Pensacola, FL. He left Florida as an ATAR(Aviation Electronics Technician) and went to his first ship in Yokosuka, Japan. He completed three consecutive South China Sea deployments aboard the USS Ronald Reagan. He departed the Reagan in 2021 as AT2 and went to the USS Abraham Lincoln for another South China Sea deployment. He departed the Lincoln as AT1 in 2022 and went to Whidbey Island, WA. Here, he served as an ECASS instructor for the Jammer Pods on the EA-18 and as a 2M instructor. Ben completed his service with an Honorable Discharge in April 2026, beginning a new chapter with his growing family. Ben, thank you for your dedication, sacrifices, and service to our country. STI would like to Honor a Veteran and STI Founder, 𝐉𝐢𝐦 𝐑𝐚𝐛𝐲. Jim entered in the 𝐔𝐒 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐲 in 1954. After completion of bootcamp, Jim was assigned to a Naval Construction Battalion known as, “The Seabees”. Jim served on, “The Queen Bee”, the U.S.S. Eldorado. He and his shipmates crewed the flagship of the Pacific Amphibious forces under the command of Vice Admiral Settle. A change in command brought the ship a new assignment as the Flagship under Vice Admiral Pride. Jim served on the Eldorado as the ship sailed for Keeling, Formosa, San Diego and in 1956 to the arctic waters of Alaska. Raby and crew completed artic supply operations and a cruise to the Far East. There they participated in exercises with a Joint Navy-Marine and Nationalist Chinese Navy-Marine amphibious operation off southern Taiwan during the end of the Korean War. During his time aboard the Eldorado, Jim Raby served as a Communications Technician before being Honorably Discharged from the US Navy. Jim went on to found STI in San Dimas, CA in 1982 and relocated the company to Madison, AL in 1993. Jim served as the Technical Director for STI several years before his retirement. STI expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Jim Raby for his dedicated service to the United States of America. Jim's unwavering commitment and selfless contributions have made a significant impact on our nation, embodying the spirit of patriotism and honor.
