I fed my husband a high fertility diet for 12 months before conceiving in the first try 🙃
His diet consisted of:
- Daily: (raw) milk, butter, salt, dairy, beef, eggs, fresh fruit/OJ, 1 Brazil nut, carb source like (sweet) potato and (pine) honey
- Multiple times a week: sardines, oysters, bone marrow, ice cream, coffee with milk and sugar, sourdough, jam, chicken, ice cream, bone broth or salmon head soup, white fish
12 months of 0 alcohol, 0 cigarettes, 0 drugs.
WE'VE BEEN OPTIMIZING THE WRONG HALF, focussing mostly on the woman's fertility 🤭
Never underestimate how much your life can change in 1 year.
In only 12 months I: got engaged, was baptized, got married, became pregnant and moved houses. A total different life 💛
An indescribable feeling to lead in prayer at the Marian devotion of my beautiful Amsterdam church as a pregnant woman 🌹📿
Dutch men, do better 🙄.
I entered a full train at Amsterdam with an older man I just met with a walking stick that needed some assistance. Of the people sitting on board, 2 tourists were the only ones giving the older gentleman and me, a pregnant woman, their seat.

I haven’t been posting in a couple of days. Live has been super busy working, cooking, prepping for moving in less than two weeks, baby stuff and sleeping early. I have noticed that before pregnancy, I would run these kind of weeks on hyper drive. These days, my hormones just don’t allow that kind of attitude. I lean towards more intuitive presence and soft leadership. Thank you baby girl for this lesson - you’re already making an impact.
To withhold or not withhold? 👀
1. Man, optimise your 'contribution' by maxxing your lifestyle AT LEAST 3-6 months prior (bare minimum)
2. As a woman, try to get a grip on your fertility window and ovulation schedule
3. Make optimal use of at least 1 week before your scheduled ovulation (the entire "fertile window" spans the 5 days leading up to ovulation plus the day of ovulation).
4. The rest is up to God, we are not machines.

This way of eating optimised mine and my husband's fertility too by the way.
Food is no joke!
I knew my ovulation window due to regular cycles and got pregnant the first month of trying. The 3 months before I focussed a lot on perserving progesterone (my mom has a history of miscarriages), lowering inflammation and signalling abundance.
Since following Ray Peat principles of diet and eating for my metabolic health, I:
- Lost 10 pounds
- Got more lean and toned
- Debloated my body and face
- Grew my hair and nails like cra-zy
- Lowered my afternoon fatique (still work in progress)
- Feel more optimistic about life in general
Timespan: 4 months. Pretty remarkable.
For the record: I am focussing on principles around food, timing and energy. I am not including specific supplements at this point in time.
"I'd die for you". Cute, but would you prepare your body for 12 months to give me a child?

Is it just me or is grocery shopping a perfect date?
Get excited with me over new products on the shelf, be patient with me while I read the labels, buy all my favorite products and carry the bags home.
I will be all yours.
Once you try wild sockeye salmon you will never go back to any other type of salmon.
One piece = 100% daily vit. D recommendation.
"Scandi Friday": boiled potatoes with dill, red onion (raw or slightly pickled) and pickled herring.
This might be a hard pill to swallow for most women, but if you want to get pregnant in your thirties, you have to eat more sugar and calories.
Want to get pregnant? Get out of starvation mode NOW.
How I got pregnant in the first month of trying.
From a metabolic perspective, fertility is a reflection of energy production. The body reproduces when it perceives safety, nourishment and abundance, not chronic stress or scarcity.
The goal is therefore to:
> lower cortisol
> improve metabolic rate
> support progesterone
> avoid sending "famine" signals to your body.
