We hear a lot of scaremongering about alcohol consumption.
SNZ release yesterday showed the per capita volume of alcohol available for consumption last year continued its long slow decline.
Please keep in mind next time there are claims of crises, need for immediate action, etc
“The number of standard drinks per person available for consumption declined to 1.96 per day in 2022, Stats NZ said today. This was a fall of 1.0%.” It is at its lowest for 15 years.

At least with the fuel tax, you knew that excise was around the right level and builds roads.
But alcohol excise always overtaxes moderate drinkers.
