Wondering what Machiavelli had to say about racial difference (spoiler: surprisingly little)? Want to be an anti-racist mensch just like Machiavelli? Then read my article, “Mind the Gap: A Machiavellian Lesson in Anti-Racism” out now with @PolityalsBeruf

I know we’ve been saying this for a while, but media literacy is at an all time low
It’s kind of ironic how Bad Bunny was dancing on an electrical post at the Super Bowl halftime show.
Puerto Rico isn’t exactly known for having reliable electricity.
He could have highlighted the electrical grid crisis in PR and done some good with his platform, but he chose degeneracy!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The utility pole in Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show functioned as a symbolic reference to Puerto Rico’s chronic power supply problems.

When it comes to a Muslim Democrat winning an election, you just need to be at least as normal about it as Bill Kristol. Let's call it The Bill Kirstol Test.
Kirsten Gillibrand has failed the Bill Kristol Test.

Honored to have my recent article featured in APSA’s Public Scholarship Program. Many thanks to Ewa Nizalowska for writing this great summary!
In a recent @apsrjournal article, @SalgadoGabe reconsiders the history of the concept of race, challenging us to look beyond 1492 as the moment of race’s emergence. politicalsciencenow.com/reth…

I do think the most damaging intellectual current within Left analysis is the one that reduces all political/culture/ideology to mechanical expressions of sociological position & interest. As a contradictory yet simplistic discourse it is also instrumentalized by libs + the Right
IMO the issue isn’t with peer review as a process or standard but with increasingly demanding tenure requirements—which are themselves linked to the increasing “professionalization” and precaritization of higher ed
Journals often have sections for comments or replies but many institutions won’t count them as highly or at all towards tenure if they’re not “fully” peer-reviewed articles. It’s a huge disincentive for anyone on (or trying to get on) the tenure-track to write anything else
Happy Birthday to my beautiful, brilliant partner, @MirandaSklaroff! I knew I was destined to be a wife guy, & I couldn’t have gotten luckier w whose guy I got to be. There’s no one I love learning from, commiserating over politics w, & helping wrangle our terrible dogs w than u!

FYI I'm more than happy to give talks on your campus, and for your campus @aaup chapters, in person or over Zoom, about how "cancel culture" is actually a made up moral panic create by dark money funded culture war outfits. I'll come for free, and even take questions.
oudaily.com/news/ou-pays-aut… Wow! OU paid $18,000 (close to or a significant % of annual salaries for many working at OU) for an ideological topic popular on the political right about supposed 'cancel culture.' No questions were allowed after hearing the actual talk on "free speech."
