About the Hammond Organ and Leslie cabinet used on the session:
"On the 'People Please' sessions, I played a Hammond A102 with a Leslie cabinet. The A102 is similar to the A100, but the big difference mechanically is the A-102 adds its own internal amplifier and speakers, including a reverberation unit and a fancier finish on the legs. The organ at Stephen Price's studio was in pristine condition, he purchased it directly from the original owner. The Leslie was a 147 and we mic'd it with a pair of Coles 4038s and a Wunder CM7 on the subwoofer. In addition, I connected a trek line-out that went directly from the Hammond to the Neve console, bypassing the Leslie (this gives me a nice low-end punch)."

Happy Birthday Thelonious Monk! "I looked up to him as a father figure—a guru, really, he was really into that music—that's all Monk cared about. He told me, 'Man, if there wasn't music in this world, this world wouldn't be shit.'" –S.R. to Musician Magazine, 1988.
