Artemi Panarin has been ripping the puck this season. Did he work on increasing his shot power and adopting a more shoot-first approach this offseason? #GoKingsGo

@grok has Panarin been shooting the puck harder on average this season with the Kings compared to previous ones?

William Nylander compares John Tavares’ first game against the New York Islanders to Brady Tkachuk’s return to Ottawa: “I think it comes a little different situation where guys maybe want to get traded out of where they are or something, and then it becomes a more meaningful game for the team, for the game, or wherever they left and for the new team, whatever. But I think in this situation you want to go back in there with Kirill [Marchenko] and win that game [against Columbus]." Reporter: “Do you have any specific memories of the Tavares return game that was maybe the one comparable to last night?” Nylander: “Yeah, but I don't think anything compares to that one. Or are you talking about the Ottawa game? I didn't see what happened last night, but was it crazy?… So what was crazier, John's game or that one?... Were they throwing snakes at Brady [chuckling]? I was standing right next to him [Tavares] in the line, and then a snake's coming over his shoulder. You coul barely hear yourself think out there. It was crazy.” #PassionNeverSleeps #Leafs

A Los Angeles hospitality group operating 25 bars near Dodger Stadium placed a $60,000 trade on Kalshi betting that the Los Angeles Dodgers would fail to reach the World Series. After the Milwaukee Brewers swept the Dodgers in the NLCS, the position paid out roughly $120,000. The proceeds helped offset lost revenue at the bars after the Dodgers’ playoff run ended earlier than expected. Unlike a traditional sportsbook, Kalshi operates as an exchange, where traders can buy and sell contracts tied to real-world outcomes. Sportsbooks set the odds customers must accept, while exchanges allow traders to set their own prices and match with counterparties willing to take the other side. Businesses are increasingly turning to platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket to hedge risks that traditional insurance may not cover and that conventional financial markets may not easily accommodate. Beyond sports, prediction markets can offer exposure to outcomes involving weather, interest rates, commodity prices, policy decisions and other events that directly affect business revenue.

Kyle Dubas provides an update on Ben Kindel after the Penguins forward suffered a medical episode on the team plane: “On Tuesday, about 10 minutes into the team's return flight from Salt Lake City to Pittsburgh, Ben collapsed on the team plane in what has been diagnosed as a vasovagal episode. Dr. Vyas, our medical director from UPMC, was on the flight. Dr. Vyas, along with Jason Meehan, Brendan Mazza, Patrick Magee and Rich Rotenberg, our medical staff, quickly attended to Ben. He was given oxygen on the flight, regained consciousness, and the determination was that the flight needed to be landed back in Salt Lake City in an emergency medical landing, at which time the plane was met by paramedics and Ben was transported to the University of Utah Medical Center for further treatment. Ben was cleared yesterday to travel back to Pittsburgh, which he did with Nick Bonino, Jason Spezza, Richard Rotenberg and Dr. Vyas, and he is back in the building for treatment and further testing today. We'll place him on injured reserve, and we will obviously follow very strict guidelines to ensure a safe return to training and play for Ben. That's our primary goal and paramount to his future and health. I just also wanted to give credit to the Air Canada staff on the plane: Sumit Lahab, Sean Gallant, Gilles Bourque, Linda Kong, Michael Doyle and Hannah Park. I think anyone who's been a part of any episode of that nature, you gain a deep appreciation very quickly for the way that people are trained to handle them, and I think our medical staff, plus the Air Canada staff, Dan Muse and Jason Seidling, the calm way that they can handle and restore order very quickly is deeply appreciated. The plan for Ben will be obviously increased testing, clearance medically, and then return to training and return to practice.” #LetsGoPens

@grok was this likely just regular fainting? Does the vagal nerve slow the heart and cause people to pass out from things such as seeing blood or other reasons?

Sidney Crosby with a great answer when asked what Ben Kindel means to the team: “I think, whether it's Kindy [Kindel] or anyone else, they mean a lot. Like I said, it's family. These are people that we spend a lot of time with, that we go through a lot with, and you just want to see the best for everyone. A situation like that, it puts things in perspective pretty quickly.” #LetsGoPens

Dan Muse on supporting his players through difficult moments beyond the game of hockey: “It's the human side of things, and the human side is always the most important. During the course of a season, things do come up that really have nothing to do with hockey, and it's always about the people. I love the people in this organization that I get to work with on a daily basis, and so the human side and just being there and supporting them as people is always the number one priority.” #LetsGoPens
