Introducing NetworkOcean.
Our future is bottlenecked by the speed at which we can deploy power.
We’re building floating solar arrays powering data centers at sea. This will soon be the fastest way to deploy new compute, skipping years of land, grid connections, and traditional infrastructure delays.
Our 2030 target is 1 GW/week.

huge! great work @rohit_kalyanpur @nickburtner
Today I’m excited to share that Optivolt is unstealthing with a $32M Series A.
Solar growth continues to outpace all other forms of energy production, but the granularity of control we get from deployed systems hasn’t changed in decades.
So we’ve added a brain inside solar panels, opening the door for a new unit of optimization and control.
Hosting a small gathering at our new HQ during sf tech week. Come by!

"what if we run out of land for solar panels? what then?"

Before we get space-based computing at scale, sea-based computing makes so much sense!

the central question is now- how much of it can you get online + how quickly
guy discovers how profitable inference is
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The screenshot's Grok calc overstates inference profits by pricing all ~217k tok/s/GPU benchmark tokens at full output rates; AgentX traces show ~99.5% are cheap cache-hit inputs.

Join us for the showcase event tonight in SF! luma.com/yjz5lw0r
Tomorrow, Sept 30, we are showing off our 1st floating solar array in the water and the compute we've been running on ship.

the last time i was in sf i had the pleasure of getting to know @SamMendel00 and @yekime through @micheal_mcl_. this was roughly 3 years ago. i'll never forget sitting in some korean restaurant while they explained their vision for what is now @network_ocean_.
i was new to sf. i hadn't been exposed to this level of ambition and audacity. i was naturally taken aback by their big bold idea. after processing what they had laid out i asked whether this means we'd also see datacenters in space. i asked the question tongue in cheek as it seemed so far fetched. they just said 'of course'. this was a white pill moment for me. an event that left a real imprint on me. a story i still tell my friends.
over the last few years i've often though about sam and eric. but true to form, i haven't made the effort to reach out to them. i often wondered what was happening to their very bold and audacious vision. i'm beyond excited to see this development. this work is insanely meaningful and can have a lasting effect on humanity. we should all be rooting for them.
best of luck guys, godspeed!

Sam is doing incredible work solving one of the most pressing challenges of our present and future. Sub 2 months to compute is miraculous 🚀

Proud dad moment: my son Sam just launched Network Ocean. Real hard tech, built from first principles. @salimismail @PeterDiamandis @DaveBlundin , this one's right in the Moonshots wheelhouse.

Sam and Eric are up to some exciting things on the water! The team works hard- I found them welding on a weekend when I first visited.
There are still endless sustainable things to build for the ocean!

71% of earth's surface is covered by oceans, and you need less than 0.2% with solar PV to meet all current global energy demand including electricity
