"It is not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?" - Henry David Thoreau
Historian friends,cI am teaching an introductory historical methods course for the first time this coming year. I am wondering what books or ideas for the course you could recommend (either for preparation or to assign). I am just trying to brainstorm right now.
Thanks in advance
I have been offered a Tenure Track position as an Assistant Professor of history at Talladega College starting this fall. I have accepted the post and am very grateful for the opportunity. We are moving to Alabama. #twitterstorians
I just successfully defended my dissertation on religious liberty in colonial and revolutionary Pennsylvania. I am now officially Doctor Dodge. But I promise I will not try anything medical.
#twitterstorians, I am teaching Civil War Era for the first time this fall, What are your favorite texts to assign undergrads?
Do any of my fellow #twitterstorians (or anyone else) know of a good scholarly treatment of the use of American Revolution symbols and rhetoric during the January 6th insurrection?

I’m a reading a Quaker document from July 1701 where the author condemns those who during meeting “give way to a Heavy Sleepy Spirit” and I am feeling just a little bit called out.
#twitterstorians, the recent @Freakaonimcs 3-part podcast on Adam Smith is excellent. I keep pondering about assigning it to my Western Civ. course but don't want to face student rebellion for assigning over 3 hours of economic history podcasts. Check it.

#tewitterstorians & #Literature friends, this semester I'm showing an adaptation of R. C. Sherriff's play "Journey's End" in my Western Civ class. It is about an officer corps in WWI just before the 1918 Spring Offensive & is drawn from Sherriff's experiences during the war. 1/2
This is my first time teaching it and I am hoping there is someone out there familiar enough with the play that I can bounce ideas off of as I prepare my presentation. Have any of you taught it? (Please RT) #WWI #Thegreatwar
Is there anything more a mixed bag of contradictory statements and grievances than student evals?

I am out of grading munchies and I am struggling to get my wife to understand the magnitude of this crisis.
DOJ asking for Trump to be held in contempt b/c no one on his team wants to be a "custodian of records," someone legally liable for verifying that 45 has turned over all of the government's documents. None of Trump's advisors want to be his patsy.

Tell me you have never personally tried to deal with a sleep-deprived toddler without telling me that have never had to personally deal with a sleep-deprived toddler.
