What's really unique about this is that the McKee Administration is admitting that they screwed up the budget so badly that they're asking @HelenaBFoulkes to propose amendments to the *current year budget.* Normally, the new Governor doesn't get to amend the current year budget.
Big news! @RIEOHHS is requesting an early-session correction to the state budget to address the mass death and extreme damage to healthcare, human needs, and the RI economy from Trump's Medicaid cuts.

Much of this is very basic. It ranges from fixing illegal terminations to connecting people who lose Medicaid from work requirements to job training. The proposal is not available online, but I've uploaded the PDF to this Google Drive link: drive.google.com/file/d/1n0C…

I want to extend my warmest and most urgent congratulations to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his monumental and deeply important victory in Brazil. This election was not just a win for the people of Brazil, but a historic triumph for the working class, marginalized-

Don’t become numb to this. It’s disgusting and dangerous racism and if Rogers wins next month it’ll only escalate. Sick, sick stuff.
Trump: El-Sayed would be the only senator that will have to go through a metal detector before he's allowed to go into the Senate. I want him to have a metal detector

"I don't give a damn." That's Trump's message to Americans while they have spent $100 billion MORE on gas while Big Oil rakes in record profits. The rich get richer while you suffer.
TRUMP on HIGH GAS PRICES: We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.

"I don't give a damn" Trying to imagine what would have happened had Joe Biden just screamed this out at a public rally.

Me: "Even if it was unpopular, are you saying the Democratic Party should not speak out against the president sending migrants who have committed no crimes to be tortured in a foreign gulag?" @mattyglesias: "Yeah." Me: "Just stay silent?" Yglesias: "I think that sometimes, if you want to help people... you gotta win first." Me: "They might be dead in three years time, by the time you win." Despite all the arguments on this hellsite over the exact number of his Piker tweets, this was the part of my interview with Matthew Yglesias that really stood out to me. I was actually stunned by this response. Shouldn't politics also stand for something more than triangulation, polling and 4-D chess strategizing? Full interview: zeteo.com/p/matt-yglesias-me…

He’s a fucking racist and there should literally be no debate about it. This is racism. Plain and simple.
Trump pushes gutter racism: "The guy in Michigan is pretty bad too -- Mohammed, as I call him ... if you have any question about somebody from that part of the world's name, just call him 'Mohammed,' you'll be right 64% of the time."

I’ve never witnessed someone so energetically tie themselves into knots in the service of an overriding commitment to being obviously and stupidly wrong.

Matt Yglesias says people in Minneapolis shouldn't have risen up against ICE. This worldview is not just cruel and amoral -- it's also deeply divorced from how political change happens. It’s kindergarten-level magical thinking, dressed up as hardnosed realism.
