I see the words "Yang-Mills" in today's AI is smarter than people news over/under on Eric Weinstein saying the AI stole from his thesis?

A timely thread
Newton's laws allow objects to accelerate forever without consuming energy In fact, two masses can orbit, collide, or accelerate together indefinitely The reason we don't talk about this is much the same reason we can't travel faster than light 🧵 1/9

Your video is nonsense. xitter.cf/AtomsksSanakan/status/…
I watched the video. It's nonsense, as expected. A big red flag is she parrots paranoid denialists with history of being wrong (ex: Pielke, Curry, Koonin, the 'Real Clear Science' crowd). I might do a thread on this. xitter.cf/AtomsksSanakan/status/…

“Worse than climategate”!!! It’s hard for any “scandal” not to be worse than a debunked email hacking and disinfo campaign relying on quote mining scientists' emails to make it seem like they were lying about matters they weren't 🙄 No pattern of skewed presentation here.

I assembled an amazing panel featuring physicist @DrBlitz @FrictionPhilo and Catholic expert Kevin nontradicath to investigate the miracle of the sun at Fatima. One of the miracles that converted Joe Schmid back to Catholicism. youtube.com/watch?v=fr9ahcoZ…

The fact that our latest and most ambitious Unbaffled video yet, on quantum chromodynamics and discovery of quarks and gluons, has had 0.5M views in its first 4 days confirms that there’s a real appetite for this stuff: youtu.be/fRa8gDCBTLE Thanks for so many +ve comments too

I phrased my objection to SH’s FTL pushing poorly earlier. My apologies. Thank you to @WKCosmo for clarifying the issue and providing useful papers and context. To be clear, this is what is “bunching my undies”:
If we have 0 evidence that we can travel FTL and 0 indication of the regime in which FTL effects may manifest, then why is SH lamenting the fact that we aren’t pumping 💰into FTL space travel? How is this different to demanding a blue sky collider search of the 10TeV scale?

That's backwards. She isn't talking about FTL bc she's shilling for AI. Rather she's shilling for AI bc she's obsessed w/FTL She has a Weinstein "ASI will prove I'm right abt everything" vindication fantasy, specifically abt FTL stuff which she calls the biggest issue in physics

When physicists propose models that solve problems but invoke new particles, they are dishonest frauds and welfare queens. When Sabine claims that we can fly FTL with 0 evidentiary backing (and piles of evidence against in known regimes) it's just "big if true shower thoughts".

Why isn't she "responding to what the evidence is clearly telling her"? Isn't this "a failure of science to self correct"?

And before I get "but, she isn't spending public money!" She is working to degrade trust in scientists and institutions, briefing parliaments that huge areas of science should be defunded, and suggesting far more money should be rammed into alien FTL nonsense. Wishful thinking:

"If we want to continue progress in science, we must be prepared to become religious."
If we want to continue progress in science, we must be prepared to acknowledge that the correct description of nature will eventually simply be too complicated for humans to understand. I do not think it is wise to make human understanding a requirement. AI is the way forward.
